Ads for Aussie in the UK not allowed
alferg replied to 2pints-mate's topic in General off-topic discussions
yeah the ad is just a big bag of cliches. they need a better agency. does this cheese really appeal to tourists? some of the imagery is pretty, but the lines are awful. pretty amusing how our tourism minister has a huge stiffy over the "controversy". http://www.smh.com.au/news/national/bloo...1701664108.html -
this looks like fun " Will Wright talking at the Game Developer's Conference about 'Spore', which looks like it could possibly be the best video game ever. Speaker: Will Wright" http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=8372603330420559198&q=spore

LPL tour Nozawa & Hakuba feb 2006
alferg replied to alferg's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
well, i enticed the lovely ladies into the cave for the benefit of my 2 single mates (pictured) & being a married man, i took this photo then went snowboarding & left them to it... later, the lifties & i noticed steam coming from the cave entrance, i guess they were uhm... making some tea... -
yeah i had some. havent had mescaline so i cant say. way more intense than mushrooms. you have to lie down & shut your eyes. it only lasts about 10-20 minutes, & you smoke it. sends you right down the rabbit hole... its very potent stuff. only for experienced psychedelic explorers! hope its ok to talk about this sort of thing on this forum?
-
on DMT, you meet other intellgent beings existing in other dimensions. its hard to write it off as just the effect of chemicals on your brain - its a totally authentic experience. it's pretty much the most truly psychedelic mindboggling trip you can have - makes LSD or mushrooms seem about as trippy as a bag of smarties. read up on Terrance McKenna - he was a big advocate.

Taking Shinkansen from Tokyo

gamera, after the overnight flight from australia, you'd probably be asleep anyway i liked the tunnels - they are so long! btw, sorry i didnt come to visit while in hakuba - it's a hard town to get around in, without a car. i reckon its totally the way to go after a long flight, when you feel like a zombie. you just call them when you exit customs, & they collect your group in a mini-van & away you go! although we were lucky that our group was large enough to fill the bus - for smaller groups, you'd possibly have to wait for other flights until the bus filled, but i t -
Taking Shinkansen from Tokyo
alferg replied to dreaburn's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
if you are just going there & back, its not worth getting a 7 day pass. checkout the flexi 4-day pass though - it may be cheaper, as it works on the airport train too. you will have no problems finding the shinkansen - plenty of staff at tokyo station speak english, there are english signs everywhere, & the ticket machines have english instructions (although you're better off going to the ticket office, to avoid any error) the shinkansen ride is awesome (i caught it nagano-tokyo last week for the first time) but if you want to do things the easy (but slightly slower) way, use -

must be global warming huh the season in nz seems to have shifted to a later start. aus season seems to be starting later too, but not as extremely as nz. canada has had some shockers in recent years. not sure about elsewhere in the world... will be interesting to see how the rest of the J-seasons run this year. -

NPM, yeah we have lots, but i'm afraid very little of it looks as spectacular as the niseko & hakkouda stuff from 2 years ago. we scored lots of great pow, but the warmer weather made it a bit heavy & the powder days were fewer. deanoid, once the other lads get back i'll collect up all the media & make you a dvd. next time i really want to checkout Kijimadaira -

cool, yeah thats what i thought. im trying to get a mental map of the area in my head, because every time we went for a drive anywhere, we were constantly going "whats the resort over there?" i have tonnes of photos & vids from nozawa & hakuba. will get my report together soon as i can. -

that would be a disaster indeed! we noticed that it looked like the middle of nowhere over that ridge. lovely view though. what's the name of the resort you can see from there? -

what's everybody listening to now?
alferg replied to Dokumanju's topic in General off-topic discussions
yeah i've heard some of miss kitten, not the others though, i'll check em out, thanks. are you using electro as short for electo-clash? cos electro to me is old skool, like kraftwerk, herbie hancock, afrika bombatta, although there's a resurgence in electro been going for a while now, but i think of electro-clash as different, more 80s new romantic/synth pop influenced, but with 00s production values. have you seen this site? very comprehensive & quite funny also. he actually give electro-clash (or synthtron) a caning! http://www.di.fm/edmguide/edmguide.html Q -
