  1. i think it's supposed to open may 1. check out Fuji-Q highlands in the meantime. dodonpa is amazing-- 106 mph in less than 2 seconds you actually feel the skin on your faces being pulled back.

  3. 3 ccd cameras will have a clearer picture and better color, but they cost a lot more. i think the 1/6 ccd is better than just 1 ccd- but i really have no idea for sure. you can find a lot of info at consumerDVreviews.com and camcorderinfo.com
  4. what's also gross is how a lot of the muscle men and women have to get all fake-baked and greased up for the competiton. yuck!
  5. Americans scare me more than anything. all americans or the leaders of the country? why?
  6. my friend's an aet at a sports high school in iiyama, nagano. at his school, the PE course students do either cross country skiing, ski jumping, alpine skiing, and a couple do freestyle/moguls as part of their course. During the winter they do about three or four days of training a week, in summer its mostly just afternoons, they go out on the summer skis or go running. They get easier tests, and even though some of them do virtually no schoolwork, the school grades them easy and graduates them anyway. there's no snowboarding as part of the official course, but there is one teacher who som
  7. that was me on saturday. i don't know why, but i just wasn't feeling it, not pushing myself at all. went superslow and took it supereasy. hope it doesn't happen again.
  8. anyone been? where would you recommend going? where is good surfing? zwelgen and i are headed over in april, and i'm really keen to learn to surf there.
  9. it was at the kijimadaira slopestyle. here's an article i found- http://japantoday.com/e/?content=news&cat=1&id=250468 so sad.
  10. porky, it's extremely addictive--- so look out bc once you start, you cant resist the urge to constantly check and post. #1 time waster at work though.
  11. after this weekend in hakuba (thanks danz for organizing!) i've met danz, kamoshika, db, enderzero, barok, and i already knew matt, snapper, and zwelgen.
  12. the mohican is the same thing as a mohawk, right?
  13. that bothered me too. then i started noticing i was accidently typing it in emails. i cant speak english anymore.
  14. ever since i got to japan a year and a half ago, i've seen a lot of mullets.
  15. yup, old milwaukee was the epitome of high school cheap drinking. when i got to college i graduated to the finer brew of natty ice. luckily though, the local microbrew yeungling wasn't that expensive (especially when you have to buy by the case in pennsylvania) so we could splurge on that. man, those were the days.
  16. saw this article on japantoday.com http://japantoday.com/e/?content=news&cat=1&id=250104 pretty interesting.
  17. maybe it's because i used to ski and I'm more used to saying it, but i tend to use skiing and boarding interchangeably. i say i went skiing yesterday when i was really snowboarding.
  18. i think it just changed and like with the driving law, it's taking a while for the word to get out to the foreigners. what really gets me is that for jets, we had to decide last week about renewing our contracts for another year. quite inconvenient to find out about this AFTER the decision to be made. if i had known about this, i don't know for sure if i would have recontracted.
  19. read my journal. the one at nozawa in front of the main gondola wins hands down. got a date with him next week!
  20. the comic porn even has it blocked out- so weird.
  21. snoboyaro-- which weekend- the 8th? anyways, the best approach is going all the way up to the top yamabiko lines first thing in the morning before they get too chopped up. after a bit of that, take the nice long skyline run back to the gondola a few times. then head over to the challenger run, then hit the park some (at top of pod gondola), grab some food at mos burger (near the bottom of the pod gondola), and do the mizunashi/panoramic runs. then skyline back to the carpark. should leave you nice and tired. kurhaus is a really nice onsen, but a bit expensive. haven't been to too many o
  22. i like the english phrases on my JHS students' pencil bags. not grammatically incorrect, but interesting... here's one: sex, ecstasy, and other psychedelic drugs (with the playboy bunny logo) and another: My mind is paralyzed. Is your mind OK? Hmmmmm.
  23. yeah, i'm really keen to learn to surf too. it's in my blood, i've got to to do it. going to wait til golden week holiday in sri lanka though. anyone who does both have any advice for a boarding to surfing transition? know i'll need upper body strength to lift myself up, but after that?? i always imagine surfing to be like a deep powder run...
