  1. Yeh, I can't understand how they can pay out that much money, only 4 years of marriage, sure they have a kid, but the kid is probably being looked after anyway.
  2. haha, my sisters were complaining about the stairs when they visited too!
  3. No offense to smokers but I can never understand how, in such gorgeous open countryside with clean clean air anyone could be interested in breathing in smoke and polluting their lungs. It always mystifies me. But as long as I don't have to breathe it then - whatever floats your boat....
  4. Nice. I'm not surprised that one pic made it to the photo of the moment....
  5. From Wikipedia: "Boutique Hotel" is a term originating in North America to describe intimate, usually luxurious or quirky hotel environments. Boutique hotels differentiate themselves from larger chain or branded hotels by providing an exceptional and personalized level of accommodation, services and facilities. Because of their financial successes in the most recent past, there have been attempts to create chains have adopted the "boutique" look and feel. In the US this trend was started by the "W" hotel chain in the 1990s and most recently this trend can be observed in chains as "aloft",
  6. What's Lent? Okay, I'm trying to get up there, a friend has asked me to come and play at a party in Hakuba that weekend. As long as I can keep up to date with an online course I'm doing I'll be able to come up, in which case, watch out!
  7. what? and lose the money they make from it?
  8. Ah, sunflowers! A drive in the French countryside might help you appreciate them. I want to paint them.
  9. Found a site run by some pro mastering engineers that go into it even more: http://www.turnmeup.org
  10. Oh wow, you really got them this time! Looks like you had a great time!
  11. I was just trying to stream it from the forums. I haven't signed up to the tv site. Maybe I should try that.
  12. Nice pics, I really wish I could see all your (and other peoples') videos, but all I get is lots of buffering and long long stalls, impossible to watch.
  13. Oh boy, I can't believe someone dedicated a whole thread to her! Oh well, I'll forgive you since I know you're heart's in the right place.
  14. Hehe, I'm working on it! Slow, long time... is that an invitation?
  15. Cos it makes the music louder and record labels believe louder = better even at the detriment of dynamics. Louder can certainly sound better, but most label execs aren't audio engineers and don't seem to realise the cost to the music. Then again they're also more product oriented than music oriented, so music quality isn't as important to them as selling units. To tell you the truth I don't think a lot of them even realise the difference. Imagine this scenario - Song A gets played on the radio, then Song B comes on and it's louder. There's a belief that this means it will sound better,
  16. Okay then it must have been another divorcee that you mentioned, or at least I think it was a single mum, I think you were hanging out with her in France a few seasons back? Anyway, good for you.
  17. Ah, zao again! It was probably about a year ago that I was there with you! I bet you'll have better snow this time round.
  18. I totally agree about the loudness wars. I had to get my CD mastered twice, the first time the guy (supposed the best in Oz) killed the sound - it was all highs and bass, everything else including the vocals disappeared. He didn't seem to have a clue about my type of music, and told me it was 'just the speakers I wasn't used to' when I said it sounded too bright in the studio. Mine is not the type of music that's going to be played on top 40 radio but that's how he mastered it. He does a lot of pop but also classical, and I think acoustic jazz, so it's surprising but that's what happen
