Hanko needed for car / parking space?

me jane, gaijin card is surname first, bank books are first name first... I still have to get my license changed over to a J license (next week's task), which way is driver's license usually? Still, I think I'll just use my first name, it is after all my 'stage' name. My whole name is way too long to fit on a hanko, even my first name is too long! I'll probably make it myself so the easier the better.... -

Thanks for the info everyone. I have the parking spot sorted, though I may have to re-register at another ward office that's close to the spot, which is an hour plus trip away, so I think it's probably safer to get a hanko for 'just in case'. I've heard I can (and even 'should') do it in romaji, and I've seen a friend's company hanko with just her first name in romaji, which I'd probably do, though I also heard it does seem to be a case by case thing with the type of hanko they'll accept too (as in what type of script/kana it's in....). I'll register it at my current ward office cos it -
I'm getting conflicting views - does anyone know if I have to have a hanko for getting a used car, and registering a parking spot? Some say yes, other say no.... thanks!

It's worth paying 5000 yen for a consultation with an Immigration lawyer to make sure you have everything necessary in order. I did that, I also paid him to translate my letter, he made it far better than I could have - he knew the best way to word it. You also need to show at least a mill in the bank. -
Mate if I were in the Maldives the last thing I'd be thinking of doing is posting on SJ! But it's nice to hear from you anyway, hehe.

Shimbashi is just a stop or two from Tokyo station, so it's easy to swing by on your way thru. If you don't know where your going it might be easier to hop onto the yurikamome monorail at shimbashi (one stop) cos the exit is kinda connected to the building. You should have time - I play till 10.40pm. Are you coming to tokyo too, aomorigum? CB, on Sat I'm going to see a concert with Susan Osborne who's in town, performing with a coupla friends (Americans who play shakuhachi and koto), it should be really interesting. (And it'll be an early one if you want to come along before clubbing -
