  2. i think the brand doesn't matter. just look that it has some air holes on the top! otherwise you get a real hot head!
  3. where in scottland?? ben nevis? i had been there in summer but i din't went up cauze of the rainy weather.
  4. the first few weeks in tokyo where hate!!! i had allready some japanese friends, but they where too busy, i felt alone and had too many really strange experiances. after i made some new friends and i found my "homebar" in shibuya i felt more and more confortable. then i went traveling and snowboarding, i start to like japan. now, since i'm back home i miss japan. but it could be possible that i hate japan again when i come back.
  5. check the youth hostel in tsugaike. but be aware! NO PARTIES!!!!! the hostel use to be open till 10.30 pm!!!
  6. in switzerland is it almost 50/50 if you check the slope on weekdays or if you go to the glaciers in summer there are little more boarders, if you are on the slope on weekends or in the school holidays you might see some more skiers.
  7. have you ever noticed that skiers allways use to wait on the best points (roads crossing the slope, edges, corners...)to jump???

(haven't you?) you need more time to control ski's than to control a board. so it's easier to learn how to snowboard! the best way to get some basics is to go to a snowboard school, your bum will thank you! it's also much cheaper if you rent a snowborad!
  9. no no, you understood me wrong! first, i'm from switzerland, thats why i don't write the best english and thats why i don't understand everything! (otherwise, let's start writing in german!) so i was also gajin. during my 5 months traveling in japan the only people who i had bad experience with, where (few) gajins! i met mostly "good" gajins, but there are a few who use the kindness and honesty of japanese people in a bad way! i think, if your baord get stolen, is the chance much higher that a gajin took it. don't you think so? do you have other experience??
  10. do you know the "fishermans friends advertisement??? it says: "don't ask, try it!!!"
  11. don't you know, to look like an uk punkrocker (of course with the union jack) is quite trendy right now!!!
  12. i think japan is the savest countrie in the world! if someone would steel your board then maybe a gajin...
  13. yes the guys on the picture don't wear helmets. but if you look at contests is it a little different. i think you will see each year more boarders with helmets.
  14. think about that! more lift capacity means less people waiting on the bottom means more people on the slope! about the rest bar, could it be that european lift companies (doppelmayer, caraventa, CVA) have them and the rest (american or japanese) don't build them??
  15. i think most of the big name borders who use to make serious jumps and half pipe riding wearing protection gear! the pant has pats on the hip, on the side of the leg, on the butt and a hard plastic covered pad where the coccyx is.
  16. oze tokura had last year 3 halfpipes. 2 to use and one in preparation. the olympic halfpipe close to yudanaka is also good but verry busy. if you go there stay at yudanaka in the japanese inn and you can get a free trial lession in traditional archery!
  17. Quote: Originally posted by Blazer: The moral of the story is "Always contact the ski resort and enquire about insurance if you have an accident." (not a very catchy moral, I know.) Safety first! i don't think it's immoral! cause you "pay" this insurance with the lift ticket and i think if you pay for an insurance then you should use it if it's neccessary!
  18. this are protection pants!!! http://theboarder.ifyouski.com/graphics/ifyouski/dainese/012_01.jpg
  19. i bought last year dainese protection pants, the consequence was, oneday, when i made a jump over a table top, i felt badly and lost my memory for about 30 minutes. the good thing was that i didn't felt any pain, (besides my head) cause of the protection pants. so i bought this year a helmet.

  21. Quote: Originally posted by barok: i dropped a 40 meter cliff, both successfully and unsuccessfully and my knees didn't blow, in fact they feel fine. yes yes.... i went fishing this weekend and i catched a 1.5 meter long bass!!!! (do you know how high 40 meters are???)
  22. hakkuba cortina stoped the double black diamond club (it allowed you to ride the trees there, without skiping the rope) now it's your owne risk and they might take your lift ticket if they cought you! f**k them!!!
  23. if you search NIGHTLIFE and snowboarding then go to switzerland or austria!!!! or you take the shinkansen and go back to tokyo each night.
