  3. Many thanks to all of you who have sent in comments and mails since our relaunch last night - we appreciate all your feedback! Please keep it coming... A few people have commented that the travel information for each resort (on the Resort pages) seems to have mysteriously disappeared on the new updated site.... Don't worry - the basic travel info is in our database and will be appearing on all Resort pages as of next week. Other things to look forward to include Resort maps on over 200 of the bigger ski resorts in Japan, and updated 2002 resort information - all to be added ove

  5. Thank you to Matt for sending this on: Cavagnoud raced in the season-opener giant slalom Reigning super-G ski champion Regine Cavagnoud has died in hospital, two dayss after a high-speed training crash. Cavagnoud suffered severe brain injuries when she collided with German ski coach Markus Anwander on an Austrian glacier on Monday. The 31-year-old had been in an induced coma and breathing only with the aid of a respirator since the accident. On Wednesday doctors took the decision to turn off her life support machine and she was surrounded by her family when she died.

  12. Nat It should be. We will just have to wait a bit longer to see how the weather shapes up. Thanks
  13. Hi Nat On a normal year, not so good unfortunately. Usually it is just the Kagura top part of the resort complex at that time, with little or no snow at the Mitsumata part. But you never can tell around that time of year.....it can surprise you. Stay tuned to skijapanguide for snow info this winter!
  14. Loch Ness We will be providing reports like we did last season on a daily basis. They are for the most part provided by our network of people around Japan who are based in those regions, and we check data from resorts as well. We hope that you feel you can trust the info you find on skijapanguide

  16. Hi there Good to hear from you again. Yes, SJG HQ is in Yuzawa (near the station), now part of a web design company. Thanks Andrew
  17. Hi The Frog. Long time no see. Yes, as the season approaches our weather and snow reports will come alive and be updated on a daily basis! Look forward to that and the new site, online early November! Andrew
  18. Sunday 23rd update Mount Fuji saw its first snow of the season this weekend, with 9cm of snow settling on the top of the mountain 9 days earlier than in an average year, and 5 days earlier than last year. Mount Hiuchi near Myoko in Niigata Prefecture also saw some 3cm of snow gracing its peak - the first snow of the year on that mountain arriving a huge 23 days earlier than in an average year! While the "real snow" is weeks away and the ski/snowboard season still months away for most resorts - can we take these as good signs for large snowfalls this season? We will have to wait and
  19. Check the newly updated NEWS page for more info.......some time to go yet, but a good sight to see! Ski Japan Guide
  20. If we're talking boarding in Nagano or Niigata and living in a place where you can just board, board, board easily - the choice has got to be either the Hakuba valley or Yuzawa for the widest range of options. Will write more soon.....good luck in your search.
