  1. Thanks Ocean, It happens here in AU as well, but we just don't have a name for it.
  2. deebee, look at the time man. I had all the right letters there, but no matter how I arranged them it didn't look right. A bit like guard gaurd guard, oh to hell with it garda (as seen on Eire police cars)

  4. I think of myself as a Celtic christian with bhuddist (sp?) leanings
  5. If you can, spend a couple of months pre-season doing circuit classes at a gym. Spend a lot of time working on squats, lunges, cycling - all those exercises that build up leg muscles and stamina.
  6. deebee, just make sure you keep your toenails nice and trim, so that the end of your toes rather your toenails touch the end of the boot. If you don't, you can end up with black toenails.

  8. sf, No it was a Thursday Sep 19 at Falls. Monday - stormed out Tuesday - sunny Wednesday - stormed out Thursday - snowed from 3am to 3 pm Friday good cover, but some gluepots around the place Saturday - didn't go out (6 day pass) Sunday - good early on, but turned to snot pretty early.

  10. It was far better than 2001, but I don't think it exceeded 2000. Had snow during one day I was there in September, so got to board freshies, over and over again
  11. I use Rossignol step in boots (less the bar and ankle strap) in my strap in bindings.
  12. I'm your Natural left hander. Surf natural & skate natural. Used to get weird looks when it was normal to leave your back foot on your skateboard and push with your front foot, coz I used to keep my front foot on the board and push with my back foot.

  15. for the next AU season, I am seriously considering getting a helmet. I had a few big stacks this season, and gave myself a few seconds time out on more than one occasion on a black run I have also noticed that a lot of the hardcore boarders who 2 years weren't wearing helmets are now wearing them.
  16. Ocean11, see if you can get Sno-Seal. It is a beeswax based water proofer for leather. I have used it on GP's (army boots) that I hiked across Scottish moors in, Ski Gloves (that first season leaked like sieves), my Sorel boots. If you have problems, send me an email and I'll see what I can do for you.
  17. Higuma, thanks for posting that. Saved me from finding that or a similar passage. It is amazing that so many people think that Halloween is a US invention.
  18. W & G are really cool. I love the penguin in Wrong Trousers

Are those mitts leather or synthetic? If they are leather, get some sno-seal on them. Actually it should work on the seams and stitching on synthetic gloves/mitts.
  20. I have a pair of Sorel's that are really nice to hike in, and if I were to be doing a long hike, I would probably adjust my bindings to suit the Sorels. The longest hike I did this year was about 2 kilometres, aand that was a spur of the moment thing as we got off the chair. Seeing most of it was uphill, It didn't really matter about the lean. I like the Rosignols because they have that lean built in - it stops me from standing up straight
  21. Quote: Originally posted by snowboard_freaks_girl: ... the difference is snowboards can walk in their boots and not feel like robocop... Ever tried to walk in hybrid boots? I have a pair of Rossignol boots designed for hybrid bindings, and they have a plastic frame that partiallt replicates the heelplate of a normal binding. This means that the boot has a forward lean, but they are good for kicking-in while going up a hill in search of that ellusive run
  22. Gloves for me, coz I like to be able to use individual fingers. I wear leather ski gloves that have been treated with Sno-Seal (bees wax). They keep nice and dry, but the only problem is that the finger tips wear out because they are not designed to be grabbing the edge of the board and manipulating bindings all the time. I am investigating making up little fingertips from a high wear fabric and sewing those over the tips of the fingers.
