  1. Meh, the way I see it if people are on a ski/snowboard forum and are talking about it this much, then they should have already been somewhere at least once. Otherwise they wouldn't be so enthusiastic about it. And if they hadn't yet, maybe when they go they find out that skiing/snowboarding isn't for them - in which case do you want that kind of review anyway? One previously written review as proof of the pudding shouldn't be a burden really. Plus it should (IN THEORY) reduce the number of smash/grabs that happen. Maybe. If I were king.
  2. I would honestly love to grab a ticket, hell Zao looks immense and it is on my to do list, but it's a time/transport/lodging thing. If I had my own car I would jump on this like a bouncy castle. Because I depend on busses/shink for transport, it just happens that there's a combined value ticket and in actual fact getting to skijo without the all-inclusive fee is, much of the time, impossible But the fact that you do these giveaways is very appreciated, and really a review should be a small price to pay. Maybe, for future giveaways, the ticket could be issued based upon the submission
  3. In Tokyo it's SUNNY!! ..And? COOOOLLLD!! And what day is it? FRIIDAYYYY!! ...sorry, got my kindergarten hat on today. I really wish I didn't have to work tomorrow. Ah well. If this snow stays around until, ohhh let's say March 30, I will be very very happy. And poor.
  4. Yes! got the booking completed last night, so it's all arranged. I'm coming up with the Lady Peetan so I'll be with her most of the morning, after that/lunch I'll make sure I'm free to go on a run or few if you're up for it?
  5. I am properly loving the forecast for this weekend. I may even buy it dinner.
  6. I haven't yet Metabo, I'm more freeride so the longer runs of takatsue appeal to me. However Daikura seems to be the quieter of the two, and has the better park by all accounts. If you do go please let me know what it's like!
  7. Trying to line up a 2.5 day trip with Lady Peetan March 21(pm) to March 23/24. Two options are Shiga koen, and Appi. For those who have been to Appi, would you say it was worth it for this time of year? the hotel looks pretty nice. Is there anything there that we wouldn't find back closer to home? Input much appreciated!
  8. I'll be honest- if you can afford the shink, do it. The first time I took an overnighter I couldn't sleep at all. It has improved since, though. Also, the recent crash that was on the news has made me think twice about taking busses again. However, that said, for god's sake don't take a weekend morning bus to the Yuzawa area. The way I see it, whether you take it at night or in the morning, you'll be on the damned thing for 6 hours on the way there. If you can make it up to Kita Senju/Asakusa/Koshigaya/Kasukabe, there is an overnight train that goes to Aizu Takatsue or Takahata for fir
  9. Do you have a link for that? don't worry, I'll get it myself... EDIT- Okidoke chief, rules noted. Any way I can help Mr Mick out with his current predicament?
  10. Yoshi! Lady Peetan saved the day- she managed to book sunday Kawaba. Looks like me might get a meet after all, GB!
  11. Bollocks, all bus seats gone for the bus companies I know. Argh.
  12. I've never been to Maunuma but like both Kawaba and Iwakura a lot. All three should have great snow. What kind of rider are you? Iwakura is really nice for straight riding and off-piste but doesn't have any park features worth mentioning. Kawaba has a bit of everything but less variety of courses (That said Kawaba has nice variety just not as much as Iwakura). I think Kawaba is better for easy close to the trail powder and has some tree runs that intermediate riders can hit. Both have great advanced level off-piste. I might be at Kawaba on Sunday if your interested in meeting up for a couple r
  13. I have to wait until Sunday, sadly- Damn work/training getting in the way *grumblegrumblegrumblegrumble* It's a three way toss-up between Marunuma, Oze Iwakura or Kawaba. Buying the red-eye bus ticket today; which would you say is best? I've only been to Marunuma, but really like it, Kawaba is grabbing my attention but the lady is liking the look of the other. But seeing as it's me who is buying the tickets, Kawaba is leading the way
  14. GB, please keep us updated- I want to head to Kawaba this weekend!
  15. Going by train = not salting the road with your tears of bitter frustration.
  16. Yep, Sunday for me! After hitting aizu last weekend, looking for a different place- anyone had any experience of Kuwaba? Isn't that Gunma Boarder's goto? Also, take care on the night busses mate, that spill the other day was horrific. Made me think twice about taking them.
  17. Good grief, does he pluck his eyebrows and wear colour contacts too? I once attempted to convince some of my coworkers of the mask futility. Had to lie down for a while after that.
  18. Good morning all. I just want to say how BLOODY WONDERFUL my commute is this morning. The guy pressed up against me smells FANTASTIC, and I'm not in any way getting stink eye from OSSAN GRAVE DODGERS. BLOODY LOVELY I TELL YOU.
  19. Oh, and is the ticket for one, or can we bring a friend? </cheeky pleading grin>
