looks like some really good terrain.

what does death trap when running mean? i have fairly extensive backcountry experience, if you're worried about me. its obviously more dangerous than riding piste but its got to be way less dangerous than anything in the hakuba backcountry.

isnt top to bottom vert a bit less than 1000m? sounds like a cruisy day of skinning. not a fan of sleds tbh.

do you think there would be any issue with going to arai next winter with my splitboard and touring around checking stuff out?

yukita = bindingless snowboarding, noboarding, pow surfing here a video of me and my friends trying yukita at highland.

i think its pretty recently closed. Its tiny, we just hiked it and did some yukita there which was pretty fun. we saw probably a dozen people that day doing the same/snowshoeing around.

The Arai thread got me thinking about these places and I was wondering if there are any others worth checking out. I've already been to Hakuba Highland and thought that was kinda cool. I might check a few out and review them on my upcoming trip if people could be kind enough to mention some names so I could research where they are etc.

any tips on coupons for discounted lift tickets? do i just check the websites of resorts or are there specific websites i can check to see if a place has a deal.

dont have a budget really, but last year i spent about $10-11k aud in 3 months and rode 74 days i think this year will be about the same, maybe slightly cheaper. this year ill be spending more on lift tickets due to buying more day passes as last year i bought a season pass for nozawa and 50 hour pass at niseko. ill spend very little on accommodation but that is offset by renting a car and petrol. ill keep a note of expenses as i go so ill know for certain how much i spent for future reference if anyone else wants to try a similar trip.

Hey Besniwod, thanks for taking the time for that advice. I forgot about michi no eki, they will be perfect. desiccant added to shopping list. non toxic i assume? i should be in yamagata start of january give or take a week. id be happy to meet up with anyone on my travels, ill be keeping everyone up to date about my travels no doubt. id like to do as much touring as possible, im bringing my splitboard, powder board and freestyle board. any advice on more touring spots?

oh really, all i keep hearing is seki is super awesome. i will probably start a thread about my adventure when the time comes.

metabo, which resorts in fukushima do you think are must ride and how many days would you allocate to them?
