  1. about 300 hours. That's including me dismantling the car, clear coating it when it was done and putting it back together.
  2. Here's a pic of mine since people are adding them. freehand drawn by my wife.
  3. That is one nice bike. I couldn't ride a motor that old and nice without being worried.
  4. Nah, wherever you are is fine! I drive a GT-R with Magic marker drawn all over it. I parked it overnight at a ski resort and for whatever reason they though Yakuza was staying there.
  5. Sighhhhhh. Sucksssssss. But you're probably right. Are you in Aomori?
  6. I'm a car guy do I'm interested in your 'snowmobiles'.
  7. Yeah,, kinda sucks. Sunday is Christmas and I can't talk the wife into a ski resort Christmas morning, so that is out the window. Tomorrow, I must concede looks rather awful in my area. Perhaps I will look to Saturday and MOnday as my opportunities. In all honesty though. If the Gondolas were running, I would go out in the storm. I refuse to pay full price for being stuck on the bunny slopes though.. I could just shovel snow in my driveway until I have a jump for tricks instead!
  8. With the long weekend coming up, I'm obviously looking to hit the slopes. Everywhere I'm checking in my area is calling for OVER 60kph winds somewhere on the mountain. Appi Kogen is forecasting 75kph winds. Should I just hang it up, or have you heard of lifts/gondolas operating in this range? I noticed several places up on Hokkaido are going to be 50+kph.
  9. Nah you can leave it! Just took me by surprise. Now everyone can watch me biff in open snow :-)
  10. Yamabushi, are you still here? I have several friends that all want to go up there, but I'm not familiar enough with it to feel like I could guide them.
  11. That's interesting. I remember uploading the video, but I don't remember starting this thread!
  12. Name: Naqua Shirakami Category: Tohoku videos Date Added: 22 December 2011 - 02:16 PM Submitter: Memphis Hawk Short Description: First run and crash of the new season! View Video
  13. Come on up! Hakkoda is getting dumped on daily. I posted a video from Naqua on here the other day.. Just a quick snippet to show how much snow there was and how good I am at a complete wipeout! I wanna get to Shiga Kogen this year too if I can, but unlikely I imagine.
  14. Since we are all over here, and we are all always looking for some other kind of gear, wouldn't a for sale section be useful? Or am I missing it right in front of my nose?
  15. By the way I ordered through dog funk which ships FREEEEEEE to APO
  16. Just purchased the Lib Tech Birdman 180cm. Can wait to write up a nice little Hakkoda review on it.. I can't decide what bindings or stance to go with!! It's my first powder specific board! Has MagneTraction, Banana Shape, 4 inch setback on bindings, and a big ol nose. I think I'll be alright!
  17. "The top of Japan!" I like to drive up to the sign at the tip of Aomori that says "Northernmost point in Japan" which pretty much translates to "Who cares about Hokkaido?" haha Have you been to Naqua this year, their opening weekend was just this past one and they already had tons of snow considering how early it is in the season. I personally feel like this year will be WAYYYY better snow wise! Here's a quick vid of the conditions.
  18. Dang, I wish the train from Aomori didn't take so friggin long to get up there. When is the new Shinkansen line supposed to be done? I wannnnnna goooo to NISEKOOOO
  19. It's not that far. Half the distance that it takes to get to Naqua Shirakami. When you drive across the flight line to north base it is the range of mountains that you can see in the not so far distance. Like I said, I would NOT suggest you go there. People get lost and never found until the snow melts sometimes. It's EASY to get lost as it is almost all backcountry. It's not a resort either.. more like a couple buildings and a ropeway to get to the top. If you fall 20 times going down Naqua, you would absolutely hate it at Hakkoda anyway as getting up can take more than 10-15 minutes if
  20. Watch guys/girls go down the mountain that have no problems at all. Take mental notes on what you see. Have someone knowledgeable explain it to you. I know you said you picked it up fast, but you'd be alright to have someone experienced explain away any bad habits you may pick up. It's harder to break a habit of doing it the wrong way than it is to learn it the right way the first time. Most of the transitioning toe to heel and vice versa is a mind game for most people. The fear of falling outweighs the logic of how simple the movement is.
  21. Once everything opens up there's a million places to go. Once you get really good, go play at Hakkoda, and you probably won't want to go anywhere else. I would NOT suggest going there as a beginner though. They already have 7 feet of snow though!
