  1. FOUR DAYS IN NISEKO COMING UP. the excitement is killing me. I just want my last two days of work to be over with!! last year I didn't even ride four times. only twice. and one of them was "hatsu-suberi" christmas time stuff (non-hokkaido) so it wasn't good at all. And I'll be riding alone at least half of these 4 days, so it's gonna be continuous and endless runs. With whiskey or beer. When bored I will offer a sip of whiskey to the person next to me on the lift.
  2. Hey! Nice pics! I'll be in Niseko around Christmas time myself.... I got a question for any niseko pros out there! I didn't see any "night" tickets on the website at all. Am I right in assuming then that a "one day" pass lets you ride for 12 hours from start to stop?
  3. Thanks for the guide!! It was really helpful in buying a new snowboard. It also helped me identify what exactly it was I was riding last year (last year when I bought my board I just got a really cheap board and was like..."it looks long and skinny...OK". I was lucky and it turned out to be the right type of board for me) I went board hunting at book off today and I got a '07 162 K2 Eldorado for 19000 yen. I'm not sure how fair the price is, but since I got back I looked at reviews and it looks like it has been highly praised. I don't know anything about brands/makes of boards, so I just
  4. Don't look at craigslist! ..... I'm trying to find a board there as well....
  5. Re-evaluating everything and changing stuff around. The night bus prices just got released and while a little more expensive than day buses their prices aren't too bad. A lot of the nicer resorts have decent A/B prices in December and Jan, so I am going to hit up Happone in December, and Goryu and Joetsu in January. In between those I'll be taking trips to cheaper places as well! Feb. prices look so expensive though...I might end up doing a trip to Kagura or Gala since everything is so expensive in Feb. anyway. If anyone would like a Japanese site with some good bus prices from
  6. Is riding a board that is bigger for your size very difficult?? I'm 178cm and ~68kg/150lbs. I found a used Lib Tech Emmagator 166 cm for sale and am considering buying it. Last year I rode a 157 directional freeride board. I like doing downhill riding and just going fast, turning and carving through the area. I don't care for jumps or tricks really at all, so I am thinking that a larger board might be more fun. But 157->166 seems like a big jump. On the other hand I exercise often and am pretty fit so I wonder if I can tame it?? Anybody out there with more expe
  7. Are there any special shinkansen ticket+lift ticket combos out there? Just looked at prices and a one-way ride to Yuzawa would be about 3000 yen it seems. Making the whole day cost around 10,000 or more, a little pricey for me. Yeah, I've looked at the night buses too. I'm not ruling them out yet at all. They are a little more expensive but you get a lot more slope time. I'm probably going to end up taking day buses to places which are closer and cheaper and don't have as a good a reputation to save money, and then will take the cash hit and take some night buses out to the places
  8. Heyyy! I lived in Miyagi-ken last year and went boarding around the Zao area during the 09-10 season. I've moved to Tokyo now and am getting ready for the next season! I wanna hit the mountain several times this season and have been laying plans for day trips from Tokyo, trying to include a variety of places and be economical. It seems like DAY BUSES are the cheapest way to get on the mountain. Any experts out there that can correct me if I'm wrong?? My plan for the season is something like this: Nozawa (once in December while it's cheap), karuizawa, white world (oz
