  1. Never rub the affected area ! wow..I didn't realize that! beware! I wonder the Vit E before cold exposure should be oral dose or cream works too ? Thanks guys
  2. I'm sorry I am not there to help, and this sounds like backseat driving but... 1) search above eyelevel ie: trees, rooftop 2) could be hugging a tree, pole.. this is going to be the hard one to see 3) could have crawled into a space and all those places has been covered by snow. I do some tracking and wouldn't expect to see any tracks now, but try and see any features that doesn't fit in. Why is there a lump of snow.. might need to take your Avi gear really sad how this has turned out..
  3. Rach, I call them Crepes because they are thin. Pancakes are thick.. just being fussy I'll eat them thanks
  4. Japan has Bilingual broadcast for movies since '80. You gotta hit a button on the remote- I'm not good with remotes or hitting the right buttons I'm not too hot on skating either.. but curling might be interesting..
  5. Never heard of that one. I think a lot of creams have Vit E in it. Maybe the oil or lanolin barrier helps, I put lip chaps... If it gets that bad to frostbite, I head inside and rub myself to get circulation. luke warm water, never hot.
  6. Your first tandem skydive is a novelty. You are doing something against your instinct and you will go through a lot until you are out of the door. I had second thoughts when I was at 7000ft. You just have to do it. But I have seen grown up big boys acting macho before the flight and after landing puking and fainting. I have never seen a girl puke or faint. With experience you use your body as if it is a wing, converting some of the vertical velocity to horizontal by deflectiing the relative wind. You fly. Your fall 80kmh glide 120kmh ...pure bodyflight. Some wear wing suits for better glide
  7. I have seen people who are scared have more fun with Bungee. If you are going to Queenstown NZ, Nevis Highwire 134m is the one! I went with some brazilian friends and one of them was scared of heights. It's really amazing to see someone confront one's fear and win. For me, I love heights and I have flying dreams. Bungee is cool because you get a bit of ground rush, you can see all the details when you are falling. It's a way safer option than BASE jumping. I broke my ankle on my first BASE jump when I was 47. No I'm not suicidal now. My favorite is jumping from a hot air balloon with parachute
  8. That is fu(king low...maybe moderator you can put a "shame list" of all these Arschlochs some day... Hey, Ben ... try and get out there for a bit of fresh air.. have an onsen later..
  9. I wonder too about this grooming business... Whether to keep the upper parts un-groomed for advanced-intermediates and/or cost savings. I find in Bavaria the smaller resorts don't bother grooming but in Austria they keep it well groomed. The former definitely cost saving.
  10. I think it's critical. News on Hokkaido news and Nine (Australia)... Ben, hang in there ....
  11. Have you checked the Bath, dunny, Onsen ??? hope he is with some locals or a girl....
  12. Herodotus... The ancients talk about the body of water Atlantis sinks, but one can include inland lakes and artificial islands. There is a theory which places Atlantis in Peru Bolivia border highlands. Like Troy, it's just a matter of finding it.
  13. I found with my macbook the limited drive space is the bottleneck. Do external drives work though? Would the Firewire or UBS2 slow down the process? It takes me overnight to burn just 20G of HD to DVD.
  14. If you got the money, sure! Lot's of Gigs and processing power on your Mac. Final cut pro is expensive.... iMovie HD is ok for short stuff but powerbooks are inadequate for the task. yep. cards and memory sticks are the go.
  15. I like Joetsu Kokusai. I don't know what's international about this place but WOW muika's photos look way better than how I remember it.
  16. Hey, it's a feeling thang ... I like to call it flow sports. There used to be a place called Urasa, famous for it's shitty snow and hard core ski school. They use to advertise their shitty snow, "If you can ski well at our school, you will ski like an expert anywhere else.." I say fu(k that.. Weather is important. Snow matters.
  17. A very good place to get info on cameras used for extreme sports is Dropzone.com . You will find most people do use sony and an alternative used successfully is Xacti HD2. When it comes to hard drives, the head floats off the platter by air. Density affects and hence have altitude limits you can find out from manufacturers. Bumps can skip off the head from platters and damage them. So hard drive is no good. I don't think there are any gizmoz that reduce ALL the camera shake. Technology has reduced the skill required to operate a camera to nearly it's a matter of angle and perspective, a
  18. check Aiptek HD for US$150~$200 . some can shoot 60 fps. you can make a helmet mount or just gaffa-tape it.
  19. Yeah, definitely want to strengthen those knees. You guys use Nautilus (machines) or weights on the shoulder for leg presses? Thanks for reminding me about the laterals! I'm on the bike at home cos it's slippery outside. We ripped the carpet out from one of the rooms and pitting in a 2x2 tatami, also pads to kick at and looks like I am going to be the moving target. Still, I still don't know about the heavy snow situation. when I hit the rough bit whether on or off piste, I get tripped forward and nearly get a face plant. I can't wok out when to put my weight on my front leg and I don't k
