Hi folks. Happy Christmas - lovely day at Zao yesterday

The weather on the mountain is very changeable, you can experience all sorts just within a short period of time. Unfortunately not everyone will get to see the beauty of the area and you should really think yourself lucky when you get one of the lovely blue sky days.

Love the photographs muikabochi. I hope to get back there this season once.

I have noticed more of this kind of 'fashion' here more each year. I love looking back at the old fashions, amazing how fast it changes.

I'm afraid there has not been so much snowfall here in Zao. We are hoping in the next 48 hours!

Everyone may think we got lots and lots of snow yesterday from the news, but we didn't. Too cold? Other areas of Yamagata did get a lot, but perhaps 10cm at the most here on the mountain. Resort remains only very small part open.

I will go as soon as I can and there is a decent amount snow.

It would not call it epic right now!! But it is when the season gets going.

We had opening ceremony at the resort yesterday - but not open!

Not good news here the temperature has risen and the resort is back to "closed" status with snow melting.

It still feels like before season but good to see everywhere white!
