  1. I looked at the thirty twos and K2s but they are a lot stiffer boot than my DC, so I opted for the softer boot for my (low) skillset
  2. that Flow looks good, you have a choice of step-in, or traditional strap, where step in might be a bit tricky
  3. i have these DC judge dual boas They are incredibly comfortable (I walked 17km on a backcountry trek last year!) but they are fully adjustable and easy to loosen/tighten without worrying about frozen laces. also, inside they have an ankle harness which hold the ankle in nice and firmly. These arent a stiff boot, so you would need to decide what amount of boot flex you want
  4. Genre? I'm a boarder, so no mistakes there. But I'm happy to enjoy skiing or boarding movies as long as the riding is good and the scenery is spectacular
  5. I don't ride parks, but like I said I'm no expert, so don't have a lot of other experience to compare them with. Two things I love about them: 1/ Once they are set up for your boot, just slide your foot in and youre strapped in and gone - no sitting down and no adjusting necessary. 2/ When sat on a chair, your front foot thats still strapped in has a pressure relax button, which temporarily takes the pressure off your foot, so a lot more comfortable This is perhaps a more informative clip:
  6. I'm no expert, but have these on my board and they are worthy of consideration: SP-United FASTEC
  7. Really - I just bought that movie. expecting it this week! oops, my bad. just realised it was "Deeper" that I ordered!

  9. they say a woman spends the first part of her adult life trying to find the perfect male, then the rest of it tryig to change him...
  10. are you familiar with the expression "she who must be obeyed"?
  11. MIJ, in the earlier episodes of Fringe, Anna was a bit wooden. In the later series, they have improved the character a lot, but the storyline is out of this world (literally!) Give it another chance if you have the time
  12. best show I have seen in a loooong time is Fringe "A television drama centered around a female FBI agent who is forced to work with an institutionalized scientist in order to rationalize a brewing storm of unexplained phenomena." Its about to start its 4th season and unlike most shows, each season just gets better and better. It also star one incredible attractive, Australian Anna Torv
  13. TB - lobbyists - whinging about how a ban on trans-fatty acids would increse production costs, make food to expensive for poor consumrs etc etc.
  14. the government thinking is that if it will improve safety, it will reduce the cost burden on society for hospitals etc. However, snow sports are a much smaller activity than say driving cars, so they focus and really pus car safety, whereas injuries from snowsports is still a relatively small cost to society
  15. Nikki and I wear them, but the kids (youngest is 16) refuse to - its just not cool
  16. Fashion (or the slaves) annoy me! I purchased the green jacket 2 seasons ago because my wife could never see me on the slopes, it was rare, and it worked out well. I went back last season and every man and his dog has one. My philosophy is that I will buy it if I like it, regardless of whether its fashionable or not - but I will never buy something, just becasue its fashion
  17. Regrettably it will be waaaay too hot for a beanie in February Unfortunattely the Mrs broke her ankle in August at Thredbo, and its not healing, so it looks like surgery in the next month - so we aint going to Japan this season (struggling for funds anyway!). however, to answer your question more directly. i previously had the green beanie, as per the avatar, but last season upgraded to the green jacket so had to buy a black beanie, as a green jacket and beanie would be way too much and have you all vomitting on the slopes LOL
  18. Tubby, I asked the same yesterday afternoon. It could also be asked that if you don't wear a helmet, can you sue them for not having a duty of care and forcing you when you don't know better? LOL I do not believe that helmets should be mandatory, but I have no issues if it is. I do as lot of taekwondo and kickboxing, and some years ago, there were 4 deaths in less than a year in taekwondo comps from head kicks - now head guards are compulsory in comps. I'm sure there isn't anywhere near enough statistical evidence to support this, but anecdotally it makes sense. Bicycle helmets a
  19. if someone is forced by a resort to wear a helmet, and subseqently suffers serious head injury anyway, then is the resort opening themselves up for a duty of care claim?
  20. its good to see from the progressive results of the survey so far that, even though the majority wear one, not one person feels helmets should be compulsory. This reflects how a mature culture should allow people to make their own choices (Yes, I wear one)
  21. I must admit that "Love Actually is my favourite. I hate Will Farrell, bt begrudgingly watched Elf recently and quite enjoyed it
  22. I've got an Audi RS4 hasnt seen any snow yet (3500kms from the nearest snow), but one day we'll train is from Perth to Sydney and then drive it to Thredbo from there
