Popular region is a term SnowJapan uses to identify well-known regions of Japan that are home to numerous ski areas that either cross town boundaries or are destinations best known by names other than those of the towns in which they are located. Examples include the ski areas of Shiga Kogen (all within Yamanouchi Town), Hakuba (including Hakuba Village, Otari Village and Omachi City), Niseko (including Kutchan Town and Niseko Town) and Yuzawa & Minamiuonuma (including those two municipalities). Our list is not an officially recognised classification, nor is it definitive. We will continue to consider and adjust as we feel is appropriate.
About the filters and search options
This tool is designed to allow flexible exploration of the SnowJapan ski area database. All filters are optional and can be used individually or combined in any way.
The dropdown options and sliders are separate by design. Choosing one option or adjusting one filter does not change the available choices in the others, allowing you to explore the database from different perspectives.
Once results are shown, you can sort them by any of the available statistics to further refine your view. If you want to start again, use the reset button to return to the full list.
