Gujo Vacance Mura is a ski area located in the northern region of Gujo City in the northern region of Gifu Prefecture.
It is a small ski area with two 500m pair ski lifts that run in parallel. The ski area and base hotel are operated together and used to be known as Gujo Kogen. It is mostly used by people staying at the hotel, but day visitors can also use the ski area.
Mura is Japanese for 'village'.
Gujo Vacance Mura used to be part of the group of ski areas that are collectively promoted as Takasu Mountains, but it is no longer listed as part of the group.
There are ten ski areas in the northern region of Gujo City. View the full list here. Most are on the mountains on either side of the expressway and national route that run north-south through the valley. This region is popular with skiers and snowboarders in the Kansai regions of western Japan, like Nagoya, Gifu, Shiga, Kyoto and Osaka. However, train links are not particularly convenient, so most people travel by car or bus.

Introduction to the region
Gifu Prefecture is located in central Japan and is one of only eight landlocked prefectures in the country. It is surrounded by seven other prefectures: Aichi, Mie, Shiga, Fukui, Ishikawa, Toyama and Nagano.
All the ski areas in Gifu Prefecture are in the northern mountainous regions of the Prefecture, in Gujo City, Takayama City and Hida City.
Six ski areas in Gujo City recently joined together for promotional purposes under the Takasu Mountains brand. (Takasu is the name of a neighbourhood in Gujo City. In 2004, Takasu Village merged with several other towns and villages to form the current city). That area is particularly popular with people visiting from Nagoya and Osaka. Train links are not particularly convenient, so most people travel by car or bus.
Gujo Vacance Mura is one of 9 ski areas currently operating in Gujo City.
