The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . Good morning from Hakuba. Phew. There's so much to cover this morning. But I'm not complaining! First up - at last, the season in Hakuba has started! It's rather limited, but great that we can get going and there are lots of people itching to get on the snow - including myself! To try and keep things simple on a morning with lots and lots going on and things possibly changing during the day: Goryu, Happo-one, Cortina and Tsugaike are all part open with 47 opening from tomorrow. At Goryu, it's just the lower Toomi course that is available. At Happo, the Riesen Slalom course is open. At Tsugaike, the upper Han-kou course is open. At Kashimayari, the Number 2 pair lift (and Number 6 quad for transport to open area) are operating. At Cortina, the Number 2 and 4 lifts are operating with four courses open. Not huge snow numbers as yet, the only firm 'fresh snowfall' report I can find this morning is from Cortina who are reporting 10-15cm top and 5-10cm at base. Weather wise, there has been just a bit of snow overnight to add to what we got during the day yesterday and there is actually some blue sky this morning - though still a lot of cloud hanging around. Sun is expected tomorrow. The next snowfall looks set to be over Hakuba later on Monday. Another good dump will go a long way to getting more open. It feels like mid winter from this morning with snow coming down nicely (about 10cm and counting) with fairly windy conditions and limited visibility. But we need snow - bring it on! The latest Zao Now report can be found here . 10+cm of snow on the ground and it is falling this morning - and hopefully through the day. There's a fairly moderate wind blowing about, but we're good with that if it means a decent delivery of the white stuff. Part of the Uwanodai area is now open as the Onsen Number 1 pair lift gets moving for the season. If this snow continues today I would expect more to open from the weekend. Actually according to the forecasts it looks like there's a chance of clearer skies over the weekend. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . Good morning from Shiga Kogen. It's good old mid-winter like cold and blowy snowy morning here. The wind is blowing the snow around and so somewhat difficult to give a number but I think 10cm is fair (and what my mostly wind-protected measuring areas is showing). For now the only change in terms of resort operations that I can confirm is that at Yakebitaiyama the Karamatsu course and Number 2 lift are now open. With more snow due today and into tomorrow, I expect news of more lifts and courses opening from tomorrow - though just at the moment I don't have anything confirmed to report. The below information is manually checked for each report. Official snow depth numbers are as reported by the ski resorts themselves. This is a bit more like it. :) Nearly 20cm of snow on the ground and 14-21cm being reported by the resort itself and snow is falling as I write this. It looks like visibility is limited on the mountain as well, as you might expect. Snowfall is due for today perhaps less so over the weekend but coming back early week. This morning the Hikage Gondola and Yu road are also opening up, though you still need to get the Gondola down at the end of the day as lower slopes are not open. Cheaper lift tickets until today! It is still snowing but as I am posting this report there is actually a bit of sun peeking through the clouds so perhaps things are starting to clear somewhat. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . I bring good news! This is what I have for you until tomorrow... Happo-one: Open from tomorrow! Happo-one will be part open from Saturday 15th December. The Gondola will be open from 8:30am and the Riesen quad will also be operating. The Riesen Slalom course will be open. Lower slopes will remain closed so you need to take the Gondola back down to base. Tsugaike Kogen – Open from tomorrow! Tsugaike Kogen will also open from tomorrow (curiously saying open on Saturday and Sunday). The Gondola and upper Han-no-ki high speed lift will be operating, from 8:30am. You need to get the Gondola back down at the end of the day. Hakuba Cortina – Open from tomorrow! Hakuba Cortina are reporting 40cm of accumulated snow and they also plan to open from tomorrow with the Number 2 quad lift operating (and possibly the Number 4 pair lift). ABLE Hakuba GORYU– Open from tomorrow! The lower Toomi course of Hakuba Goryu will also be open from tomorrow, serviced by the Toomi Sky Four Lift. Kashimayari – Open from tomorrow! The Number 2 pair lift and Number 6 quad lift (for transport) plan to be open. Hakuba 47 – Open from Sunday Hakuba 47 has announced that they will be opening on Sunday. They currently plan to have the R4 course open with the Gondola (Line 8) and the Line A pair lift operating, opening from 8:30am. All subject to change of course. I’ll be making some adjustments to the layout of the report tomorrow along with checking for all the latest information, so it very likely be appearing later than usual. Original morning report: Good morning everyone. There's snow on the ground this morning. I'm measuring 12cm on the top of my car and I'm looking forward to getting out there with a shovel. (I'll be somewhat less enthusiastic about shovels once the ski lifts get moving!) Independent snow and weather reporting from the Furano region of Hokkaido New snowfall at base 4cm Snowfall at base this season 146cm Posted on Thursday 13th December 2018 This is an archived report. The latest Furano Now report can be found here . It is a truly beautiful morning here in Furano. I write this while enjoying my morning coffee, bathing in the sunshine and looking at the crystal white vista outside. There are no clouds to be seen and only blue sky at the moment. Temperatures are very cold and there is 4cm of very light powder snow that has fallen overnight. Night skiing got started last night on the Prince Romance lift and the ski area was nicely lighted up for for first time this winter. I noted the snow makers were blasting into the night as there is still only minimum coverage on the lower slopes. I took a look at Kitanomine yesterday and although it is white from top to bottom from a distance, the lower slopes have grass and bush poking through the snow extensively, meaning another good dump of snow will be needed on that side before it can be opened.
