Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 3cm
Snowfall at base this season 26cm

Posted on Monday 17th December 2018 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here.

3cm of fresh snowfall on the ground. Happo-one are reporting 10-15cm on the mountain and Cortina are reporting 3cm.

It is keeping mild but hopefully that ends during the daytime today and we can get stuck into some fresh snowfall from tonight through into the middle of the week. (I'm trying hard to ignore the warmer temps and rain looming on the forecast for late week and Saturday. Go away!!)

For the moment there is a lot of cloud around but a fair amount of blue sky on show too. I imagine the clouds to gradually increase and win the day, rewarding us with snow by tonight.

OK, so the only resort operation change that I can confirm this morning is that Hakuba Goryu have got their Toomi pair lift moving in addition to the quad lift. That's not opening up any new terrain though.

I'm really hoping to bring you a snowy report tomorrow.
