Independent snow and weather reporting from the Niseko region of Hokkaido New snowfall at base 1cm Snowfall at base this season 56cm Posted on Thursday 28th November 2019 This is an archived report. The latest Niseko Now report can be found here Some light rain yesterday afternoon in base areas I'm afraid and I only have what amounts to a sprinkling of snow to report to you this morning. There was a bit up on the mountain during the day yesterday I hear, but it didn't manage to get down here, where it was remaining relatively mild. It is definitely colder this morning. The weekly forecast is showing some regular snowfall in the coming week, though with the chance of some rain and milder conditions over the weekend again. A prolonged delay is of course disappointing, but as long as the taps are turned soon... --- If you are like me, you might not be a big fan of airports. In my case it is probably due to over-exposure over the years, but I enjoy spending as little time in them as possible and try not to be seduced by all the yummy things to eat and stuff to spend money on. I do remember at one time being excited at the thought of visiting the airport and what was ahead, of course, so I am sure that is the case for visitors. Especially ones looking forward to some Niseko snowy goodness. Anyway, apparently New Chitose Airport has had something of a refresh this year with new stuff to help the process (and no doubt new stuff to sell you too!) I have just been out and measured 3cm. I wonder how much there is up on the top of the mountain. It feels cold out. Independent snow and weather reporting from the Naeba region of Niigata New snowfall at base 3cm Snowfall at base this season 3cm Posted on Wednesday 20th November 2019 This is an archived report. The latest Naeba Now report can be found here . Hello and good morning from Naeba. It may well be raining down in the central area of Yuzawa town, but down here in Naeba it is snowing and I have the first 3cm of the season to report from base. Those mounds of man-made snow are now surrounded and topped off by some of the real stuff. There's not quite enough to give the lower slopes a complete white cover but things are definitely looking winter-like this morning. It is allowed to get really excited about the snow this morning but the forecast isn't showing much more of it through into early next week and a bit of a warmer weekend. (Sorry, just being real!) But hopefully there is a chance that Kagura will be able to open this coming Saturday, and Naeba is heading for an opening on 7th December. Fingers crossed!
