Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata New snowfall at base 5cm Snowfall at base this season 1040cm Posted on Tuesday 1st February 2022 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here . Just a little coloring of snow overnight (by locals standards; it still was 5cm of nice light flakes). Pretty cold last night, too, as I found while I struggled with recalcitrant snow removal equipment. It's sunny and nice now, though, although snow is blowing in over the mountain and falling lightly in the sunlight. Pretty nice morning! The Niigata news says snow likely again this afternoon, although looking at our weather/wind animated map, there's a front to the west over the Sea of Japan that looks like it might divert the wind, and the snow, away from this area today. Winds coming right back at us from Siberia from tomorrow, though, so one way or another snow is coming.
