Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 11cm
Snowfall at base this season 671cm

Posted on Monday 31st January 2022 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here.

Snow during the day yesterday and some more overnight. Not huge numbers to report this morning - though a thoroughly respectable 25cm on the top areas of the mountain (with 10cm of that overnight).

We start this Monday morning and last day of January with light snowfall and a cold start. Perhaps we'll get light snow (on and off?) through the day today. There's quite a lot of snow lined up there on forecasts through next weekend, particularly later in the week, so there should be regular refreshes.

Rested lifts today: Skyline connecting pair, Challenge pair, Utopia pair, Karasawa pair.

Fresh snowfall recorded by the ski area (total since yesterday morning):

- Yamabiko (1615m): 25cm

- Uenotaira (1407m): 25cm

- Hikage (660m): 12cm

- Nagasaka (616m): 13cm

- Karasawa (563m): 3cm

Official snow depth numbers (reported by the ski area):

- Yamabiko (1615m): 340cm

- Uenotaira (1407m): 305cm

- Hikage (660m): 295cm

- Nagasaka (616m): 275cm

- Karasawa (563m): 200cm

All courses apart from the following plan to be open:

- Yunomine A

- Grand Prix

Planned operating lifts (this is general info - for any specifics see top report):

- Subject to weather conditions all lifts that plan to be open should be ok. See above main report for specific info for this morning.

- The top Yamabiko A-D courses close at 3:20pm until 27th March (at 3:10pm after that).

- Skyline course closes at 4:10pm.

- The Nagasaka quad lift is planned to open for night skiing 11th-12th Feb (subject to change).
