I'm here to post another quick pre-season report. We have some snow on the ground down to the village this morning. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here . Good morning from Yuzawa. It is a bright morning with a kind of overcast feel, with thin cloud early on. There seems to be a chance of some light rain from time to time across the weekend. Let's hope we get lucky and it holds off. It is impressive how good the snow cover still is at Kagura (check out the image below). I can't remember the ski area closing in mid-May with so much snow left. The ski area could clearly continue beyond Sunday, but there have been no hints that they will. Sunday is scheduled to be the last day of the season. If you fancy some traditional pork soup and taking part in a raffle, be sure to be at the Mitsumata Ropeway base around 2pm on Sunday. While stocks last! One last update to end the season due on Sunday. Ski area information for today The below information is manually checked for every report and is believed to be correct at the time of publishing. Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano New snowfall at base 14cm Snowfall at base this season 281cm Posted on Friday 30th January 2026 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . Good morning from Hakuba. It's time for on-mountain snowfall rankings (as reported by the ski areas)! Tsugaike: 30cm Cortina: 30cm Goryu: 30cm Happo-one: 20cm Hakuba 47: 20cm That should give you an idea of how much to expect as you ride the early morning lifts. My base measurement is just under 15cm. Largely cloudy skies this morning with snow falling in places, especially higher up. At the same time, I can see the sort of shape of the sun trying to break through looking away from the mountains. Trees swaying on a higher Happo-one webcam, so it looks quite windy. It's cold too, so proper mid-winter conditions this morning. Which means fun snow to explore if you're wrapped up well enough. Some forecasts show a chance of some sun tomorrow before we get back to snow Sunday and Monday. -------------------------------- ABLE Hakuba Goryu New snowfall (as reported by the ski area): Top: 30cm Official snow depth: Top: 300cm Top: 125cm ------------ Hakuba 47 Winter Sports Park New snowfall (reported as 'todays snowfall'; implies overnight rather than 24 hrs): Top: 20cm Base: 10cm Official snow depth: Top: 310cm Base: 135cm ------------ Hakuba Cortina New snowfall (as reported by the ski area): Top: 30cm Official snow depth: Top: 330cm Base: 200cm ------------ Hakuba Happo-one New snowfall (as reported by the ski area): Kurobishi (1680m): 20cm Usagidaira (1400m): 20cm Nakiyama (800m): 10cm Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): Kurobishi (1680m): 300cm Usagidaira (1400m): 147cm Nakiyama (800m): 90cm ------------ Hakuba Iwatake Snow Field Official snow depth: 260cm ------------ Hakuba Norikura Onsen Official snow depth: 200cm ------------ Jigatake Official snow depth: 100cm ------------ Kashimayari Skijo Family Park Official snow depth: 120cm ------------ Tsugaike Mountain Resort Official snow depth: Upper: 268cm Base: 100cm ------------ White Resort Hakuba Sanosaka Official snow depth: 135cm Hakuba Now 2025-2026 season Data as Friday 30th January 2026 Total snowfall at base so far 281cm Number of days snowfall observed at base 35 days Most snowfall observed in 1 day 24cm (on 25th January) November 2025 snowfall 2cm reported on 1 day December 2025 snowfall 98cm reported on 12 days January 2026 snowfall 181cm reported on 22 days Previous report Next report All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Hakuba. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . Good morning from Hakuba. It was a cold day yesterday but wrap up well and people were rewarded with some very fine conditions. Hakuba Goryu patrol was reporting 60cm of fresh deep in places, though making the point that we still have less snow out there than last year. Visibility was varied and pretty poor while I was out there. Choice of google lens important. Another cold morning but much clearer skies and an increasing amount of blue. Lovely morning down here in the village. There's more fresh out there this morning with Goryu and 47 reporting 15cm. A few lifts at Happo-one are going to be delayed due to 'snow clearing'. Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano New snowfall at base 24cm Snowfall at base this season 257cm Posted on Sunday 25th January 2026 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . Good morning from Hakuba. The most fresh snow being reported by a ski area this morning is again Cortina, reporting a very nice 50+cm. Goryu and 47 are reporting 30cm on mountain. Again looking at the snow maps, it seems regions to the north have received the most fresh snow. I have measured 24cm since yesterday morning. There's some very fine snow out there. As Tsugaike says this morning (well, with the help of a rubbish but amusing auto-translation): "Enjoy with immersion caution! Please be careful, it's a little out of sight." Indeed. I'm a bit early this morning and that means that some official info hasn't been updated yet and so no list today. Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano New snowfall at base 4cm Snowfall at base this season 99cm Posted on Tuesday 30th December 2025 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . Interesting morning we have. Tsugaike Mountain Resort is reporting 'about 40cm' of snow since last night. Impressive. It sounds at least 2x more impressive than that on the English auto-translate on official social media where that somehow becomes 'about 40 inches'! Dear oh dear. Anyway, elsewhere, Happo-one is reporting up to 26cm and Hakuba 47 is reporting up to 15cm. Cortina coming in at 25cm. Sounds like there should be some fun conditions to be had this morning at higher elevations, where it looks like it snowing quite handily at the moment. And some very limited visibility in places, too. There's not so much going on lower down, more like several of cm in places. (Of course, that's where I can take consistent measurements each morning and have been doing for well over a decade. If you are unclear on all that, please do click on the About link above to find out more). It started with some rain yesterday turned into snow, and I have just measured 17cm here at base. Tsugaike Kogen are reporting 30cm up on the mountain. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . The sun is out now but overnight we got a blast of winter conditions, and a layer of snow. It is (was) a thin layer down around base areas, but a fair bit more up top. Hakuba 47 is reporting about 30cm* of snowfall on upper areas. 30 inches would be amazing, but 30cm sounds pretty good too! The thin layer outside my place has gone now, but the mountains are looking good. It currently looks like it should be relatively mild over the coming days with a share of sunshine. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . Good morning from Hakuba! The 2025-2026 snow season is (hopefully) just less than a month away, with the big ski areas hoping to open at the end of November. After a long and hot summer, we are currently still largely in autumn mode. But... the mountains have received snow. And actually a nice bit up too, with Hakuba 47 yesterday reporting 15-20cm of snow on upper areas. Very nice. I'll report on fresh snowfall - especially when it falls down to base - over the coming weeks. Let's hope we are in for a bumper snow season. Back soon... While we might not have any snow on the ground down below, there is enough snow for the Yamabiko A, C, D and E runs to open this morning... helped along by a reported 7cm of fresh snowfall up there since yesterday. Webcam images look nice, too. No sign of Naski (everyone's favourite bright green skiing vegetable mascot) yet, but being as gnarly as Naski is, I would not bet against an appearance!
