Independent snow and weather reporting from the Yuzawa & Minamiuonuma region of Niigata
New snowfall at base 0cm
Snowfall at base this season 23cm
Posted on Friday 20th December 2019 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here.
This morning it is raining down in town; Kagura is reporting 2cm of snow and snow falling higher up.
NASPA Ski Garden was originally planning to open from today and as you can see below there is a large number of ski resorts around Yuzawa and Minamiuonuma that were planning on being open from tomorrow. Those openings are not going to be possible. They are all now waiting. As we all are.
The lack of snow is of course worrying - the prospect of not being able to open for Christmas is a real blow. So everyone involved is looking to the forecasts for good news. But we can't do anything about it other than wait and hope.
After today, around Monday is still looking like the best chance for some decent snowfall. A nice Christmas gift would be excellent timing.
