- Nozawa Now: Wednesday 8th January 2025
Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano New snowfall at base 27cm Snowfall at base this season 341cm Posted on Wednesday 8th January 2025 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . Right, here we go. It's time for a refresh! Check out the snowfall numbers reported by the ski area this morning (below): a curious range of 15-38cm around lower areas and 20-21cm in higher elevations. Interesting, for sure! My measurement for the morning is... 27cm and that is almost the same as the 26 reported by JMA (Japan Meteorological Agency), which, by the way, is quite close to Karasawa. All that snow has all come overnight and a lot of it in the several hours before leading up to opening. It is snowing lightly as of 8:45am and about -2C. So, there should be some nice fresh untouched snow out there this morning. Forecasts tempt us with tales of more snow coming over the next few days, possibly heavy at times. Sounds like conditions by the weekend should be tip-top once again! Naski will be pleased. Independent snow and weather reporting from the Furano region of Hokkaido New snowfall at base 10cm Snowfall at base this season 267cm Posted on Tuesday 7th January 2025 This is an archived report. The latest Furano Now report can be found here . Hello Skiers & Snowboarders, After a lovely, snowy day yesterday, Mother Nature decided to have a little fun at our expense. I refrain from profanity in these reports, but yesterday we had r@!n in the afternoon. Hate that word in the winter. It was a light rain, and mercifully only for a few hours, but now it's there weighing everything down. No r@!n expected today, or indeed any time within the next two weeks. Hang tight for some snow tomorrow, and then what appears to be several days of sunshine. That should be nice. Think snow. All lifts except for Kitanomine magic carpet. The latest Geto Kogen Now report can be found here . Hello from Geto Kogen. After what seems like a long New Year period, we go back to a 'normal' Monday morning. About 4cm from yesterday with snow falling on and off. What a nice morning it is with lots of blue sky around. Mild conditions are forecast today with temps rising into + numbers (though not high numbers!), and we might get some sleet later on according to a local forecast. Hopefully that will be the worst of it before turning into snow. Independent snow and weather reporting from the Furano region of Hokkaido New snowfall at base 9cm Snowfall at base this season 257cm Posted on Monday 6th January 2025 This is an archived report. The latest Furano Now report can be found here . Hello Skiers and Snowboarders, A glorious day if you like snow. It's a-snowin' & a-blowin out there. Viz is still 500 m, so this is perfect conditions as far as I'm concerned. It's supposed to snow all day today, with the wind picking up even more in the afternoon. Small point of concern is the temp might climb up to around zero this afternoon, so that'll change the snow texture a bit for the powder junkies. The Gondola is closed today due to the wind. Since the wind is forecast to increase, I'm sure the Gondola will stay closed all day. Think snow. Furano Zone -- All open. Kitanomine -- Gondola closed for wind today. Wind is up to 50 km/h on top. Magic carpet also closed, but not because of wind. Night skiing until 6:00 PM tonight.
