Yes, just three more days left including today with the resort closing at the end of operations on Monday (30th). And it looks like it is just the Takenokodaira course open for the long weekend, with the Number 2 Gondola taking you up there (and bringing you back down too). The latest Naeba Now report can be found here . Good morning from Naeba. I am happy to report that we got 6cm of fresh snow yesterday evening accumulating at the base. Sadly, however, the snow has turned to rain and things are looking quite damp out there! The wind has dropped off significantly, so it's quite calm today in the valley. We can expect the rain to continue until lunch time, with it easing off into the afternoon. The air temperature will be comfortably above 0°C today, remaining there until the skies clear on Saturday. Looking forwards, we can expect precipitation through until Friday night, with above freezing air temperatures. From Saturday onwards, a belt of high pressure will move in from the north west bringing calm, clear and warm weather until at least Tuesday. • Naeba Now: Tuesday 13th February 2018

Independent snow and weather reporting from the Naeba region of Niigata New snowfall at base 2cm Snowfall at base this season 790cm Posted on Tuesday 13th February 2018 This is an archived report. The latest Naeba Now report can be found here . Good morning from Naeba! It feels like a crisp start this morning, despite the comparatively warm air temperature this morning of -4°C. Light snow fell intermittently throughout yesterday and lsat night, however accumulations at the base were limited to a meager 2cm. However, any fresh snow will keep the pistes fresh when groomed and this is certainly the case this morning. There is a light wind currently, but this is expected to strengthen as the day presses on. We are forecast more snow today, but predicted accumulations are limited to 8cm at the base in the next 24 hours. Air temperatures are expected to remain comfortably below 0°C today. Looking forwards, the skies should clear tomorrow morning, allowing for a sunny start to the day. This will enable air temperatures to push up above 0°C, however these will crash back down to well below 0°C again from Thursday onwards. The clouds will push back in tomorrow night, brought in by a moderate wind, and stick around until Friday afternoon. After the possible sunshine on Friday, more cloud pushes in again bringing with it some more light snow. The latest Naeba Now report can be found here . Good morning from Naeba! It's another beautiful, sunny morning here, with a chilly air temperature of -10°C, but I can already assure you it feels much warmer than this in the sunshine. The forecast suggests we should expect it to stay clear throughout today, and air temperatures in the valley should push up all the way to 0°C. The groomed pistes are in fantastic condition due to the recent snow fall and the additional top up of 1cm received last night. There will be little wind today. Looking forwards, we can expect the skies to remain clear until tomorrow afternoon, when the next block of cool, moist air will push in from the north west. This will bring snow, with the heaviest currently predicted to fall on Saturday night. There is a suggestion that this storm will start with some rain in the valley. however with the overall temperature of this system being well below 0°C, I suspect this will fall as sleet in the worst case. The wind will pick up somewhat with the movement of this cool air, however current wind speeds are not predicted to be as strong as the previous couple of storms we have experienced. The snow is predicted to persist until Wednesday. Hareta! The latest Naeba Now report can be found here . Good morning from Naeba! It's another cool, crisp and clear morning in the Mikuni valley today. The pistes are in fantastic condition and were topped up nicely with 6cm of fresh snow yesterday afternoon. Quite the squall came through yesterday between 3 - 5pm, snowing heavily for this period but subsequently blowing itself back out of the valley in the evening. For the remainder of today, we can expect the air temperature to remain well below 0°C, dropping to as low as -13°C overnight tonight. There could be some cloud and even light snow falling later into this afternoon. The wind will gradually pick up as the day goes on, but this is unlikely to have too much of an impact. Looking forwards, we can expect another clear day tomorrow, with air temperatures creeping up far closer to 0°C than they have for a good few days. Following this, on Saturday, things will warm up significantly, indicating the imminent arrival of the next storm system into the Mikuni valley. The snowfall is currently predicted to begin overnight on Saturday with heavy precipitation. Snow will continue until at least Tuesday, as currently predicted. As this storm system settles in, the air temperatures will drop significantly again, back to being similar to the recent highs we have been experiencing of around -5°C. The wind is predicted to strengthen somewhat during this period, however current suggestions indicate that it shouldn't be a significant problem. Taiyō! The latest Naeba Now report can be found here . Good morning from Naeba! It's a bright and clear morning here, with the sun beating down into Mikuni valley. The air temperature is on the cool side at the moment, reading -10°C, however with this sunshine it feels more fresh rather than cold. We can expect the skies to remain clear for the best part of the skiing day, but clouds will push in this afternoon, potentially bringing a little snow with it. The wind is calm currently, but again as these clouds push in we should expect them to pick up a little later in the afternoon. The pistes are in fantastic condition this morning, with the fresh snow and cool temperatures that we have experienced recently. Looking forwards, we can expect a slightly warmer day tomorrow, with a lesser wind and some light snow showers. On Friday we will see significantly warmer temperatures, with daytime highs of around -3°C, pushing up to 3°C during Saturday day time.
