Independent snow and weather reporting from the Naeba region of Niigata
New snowfall at base 0cm
Snowfall at base this season 24cm
Posted on Saturday 7th December 2019 This is an archived report. The latest Naeba Now report can be found here.
Good morning from Naeba.
A quick early report to let you know what will be open today:
- Number 5 high speed lift (8:00am until 5:00pm)
- Number 4 romance pair lift (8:00am until 5:00pm)
- The lower base slopes between those lifts are open with a fairly narrow course of natural + artificial snow
So as I write this we are less than 30 minutes away from the 'grand opening'.
There's even some free soup on offer at 10:00am. What more could you want?!
No fresh cm to report overnight and it is a cloudy start to the day.
Have a good Saturday, whether you are!

Yesterdays update revisited...
Good afternoon from Naeba.
I don't have a whole lot of specific information for you on this day known as 'Opening Eve'.
Bit of snow? Check.
Mascot characters? Check.
TV cameras? Check.
Yes, it sounds like Naeba is about to open!
As you can see from the images below, the run in front of the base hotel that is helped along with artificial snow making machines is ok and ready; and that is what I expect to be open from tomorrow morning.
It will be rather limited, but first tracks are indeed first tracks and you might even get to be on telly alongside above said mascot characters. If you do, gurn for the camera for me will you. (I'm far too shy for that kind of thing....)
