The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . Good morning from Nozawa. It's a bit of a damp/wet morning but from the webcam it looks like the top Yamabiko area is above cloud. A good reason to get up there! Today you can't use the Rinkan course to get back town the mountain as they do something with the snow over there... gondola ride required. The rest of this weeks looks like it'll be a mix of cloud, light rain, perhaps light snow at higher elevations. Sun is more likely around Saturday. • Nozawa Now: Monday 31st March 2025

Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano New snowfall at base 2cm Snowfall at base this season 1058cm Posted on Monday 31st March 2025 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . Good morning from Nozawa. It's the last day of March. We have fresh snow. And adjusted ski area operations. First up, snow. Several cm, though it has already gone from roads now. The Yamabiko webcam looks very inviting first thing. Naski appears to have finished daily duties down on the now-closed Hikage base, so I wonder there might be some turns being enjoyed. (Has a bright green vegetable ever been so gnarly?) Forecasts seem kind of unsettled/changeable for the coming week, so we'll just have to see what we end up with. A run of clear days and very warm conditions is not part of the menu. Ski area operations: see below for details. Basically, Rinkan course aside going back to base, it's the top area that remains open... in itself, a pretty big area here at Nozawa. Still over 5 weeks to enjoy. New snowfall (reported by the ski area since yesterday afternoon): Yamabiko: 3cm Uenotaira: -cm Lower areas have now finished reporting for the season Official snow depth numbers (reported by the ski area): Yamabiko: 280cm Uenotaira: 230cm Lower areas have now finished reporting for the season Planned closing date: Nozawa Onsen plans to be open until Tuesday 6th May 2025 The following courses are still available: Yamabiko A-E Kokenashi Uenotaira Paradise Rinkan (Forest) Kumataka You can still ski down to base via Rinkan. • Nozawa Now: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano New snowfall at base 44cm Snowfall at base this season 857cm Posted on Wednesday 19th February 2025 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . I hesitated somewhat posting earlier this morning as I took in the snowfall numbers reported by the ski area. 93cm since lunchtime yesterday up top, with 114cm over 24 hours. And 74cm at Hikage? Wow. Surely we have had a lot of snow -- but I have not seen those numbers (and I can't report what I don't see). After taking a walk around outside, my measurement for the day is 44cm for the 24 hours. I'm thinking wind must have been a factor here, blowing it around. (The Japan Meteorological Agency measurement at nearby Karasawa is 30cm up to 8am). Anyway, keep all that in mind and don't overthink. Numbers/observations will differ. The important bottom line: a lot of snow! This ongoing snowfall isn't going to let up any time soon either. We should expect it through until the weekend and maybe over the weekend too. Wild stuff! It's cold out there and visibility is limited at best. Be careful out there. Fresh snowfall since yesterday (morning + afternoon) as reported by the ski area: Yamabiko: 21+93cm (!) Uenotaira: 8+55cm Hikage: 4+70cm Nagasaka: 4+70cm Karasawa: ?+50cm Official snow depth numbers (reported by the ski area): Yamabiko: 420cm Uenotaira: 355cm Hikage: 290cm Nagasaka: 290cm Karasawa: 216cm Lifts: All scheduled lifts are operating as planned The Utopia pair lift and Challenge pair lift are normally closed on weekdays Nozawa Now 2024-2025 season Data as of Wednesday 19th February 2025 Total snowfall at base 857cm Number of days snowfall observed at base 56 days Most snowfall observed in 1 day 44cm (8th and 19th February) November 2024 snowfall 3cm reported on 1 day December 2024 snowfall 291cm reported on 21 days January 2025 snowfall 239cm reported on 19 days February 2025 snowfall 324cm reported on 15 days Previous report Next report All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Nozawa Onsen. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . After some snow early yesterday, we had a bit of wet during the day (down in the village, I was not able to be out on the mountain), but this morning things are a bit clearer and a bit calmer. Lots of cloud around but seemingly no worry about rain and no change of snow as it is going to be a mild day. Perhaps some more snow around Tuesday, though it might be wet in lower areas, and other than that some warming up going on. Just as you might expect as we approach April!
