The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . Hello and good morning from Hakuba. After that lovely fresh snow to play in yesterday morning, there's just a little extra to report this morning. It sounds like we can expect a modest layer out on the slopes. It is snowing lightly at the moment and visibility seems generally decent. Looks like there is a good chance of some sunshine tomorrow. --------------- ABLE Hakuba Goryu Reported snowfall: Upper: 2cm Official snow depth: Upper: 250cm Toomi: 125cm Hakuba 47 Reported snowfall (overnight): Upper: 5cm Base: 2cm Official snow depth: Top: 255cm Base: 120cm Hakuba Cortina Reported snowfall: Upper: ?cm Official snow depth: Top: 195cm Base: ?cm Hakuba Happo-one Reported snowfall: Kurobishi: ?cm Usagidaira: 1cm Top of Riesen quad: 10cm (social media) Nakiyama: 0cm Official snow depth: Kurobishi: 240cm Usagidaira: 193cm Nakiyama: 75cm Hakuba Iwatake Snow Field Reported snowfall: Mountain Side: 0cm Village Side: 0cm Official snow depth: Mountain Side: 180cm Village Side: 110cm Hakuba Norikura Onsen Official snow depth: 200cm Jigatake Reported snowfall: 0cm Official snow depth: 110cm Kashimayari Official snow depth: 110cm Tsugaike Mountain Resort Reported snowfall: 2cm Official snow depth: Upper: 227cm Lower: 44cm White Resort Hakuba Sanosaka Official snow depth: 100cm --------------- Total snowfall accumulation this season so far (in upper areas) [The information below originates from the ski areas themselves, it is being checked and updated manually every report from public Hakuba Valley sources] ABLE Hakuba Goryu: 754cm Hakuba 47: 502cm Hakuba Happo-one: 635cm Hakuba Cortina: 542cm Tsugaike Mountain Resort: 596cm Hakuba Now 2023-2024 season Data as Wednesday 7th February 2024 Total snowfall at base so far 344cm Number of days snowfall observed at base 36 days Most snowfall observed in 1 day 35cm (8th January) November 2023 snowfall 28cm reported on 4 days December 2023 snowfall 93cm reported on 13 days January 2024 snowfall 187cm reported on 16 days February 2024 snowfall 36cm reported on 3 days Previous report Next report All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Hakuba. • Hakuba Now: Tuesday 6th February 2024

Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano New snowfall at base 32cm Snowfall at base this season 342cm Posted on Tuesday 6th February 2024 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . Good morning from Hakuba. It is a very good morning, too, as we have a nice amount of fresh snow. As you can see from the numbers below, some hard-to-understand looking numbers aside (Hakuba 47 were talking about 20cm late yesterday, have 10cm on their site this morning, but are also saying 20-25cm 'in 12 hours' on social media), ski areas are generally reporting up to 20-30cm of fresh snowfall since yesterday. Here's another interesting number to throw into the mix. The JMA (Japan Meteorological Agency) has clocked up 32cm over the last 24 hours at it's measuring point at 703m (village hall)... and I agree! It's interesting to see Jigatake down to the south in Omachi reporting 30cm. It's not often you see that, but then again, it's not often that there's snow in Tokyo like there has been since yesterday. (It was quite funny watching the news on tv last night recommending Tokyo citizens to 'walk like penguins' on the snow/ice. But, seriously, please do take care!) As always, though, let's take a step back before over-thinking: big picture, we have fresh snow, a fair amount of it, and that that is definitely a very good thing! Yey! And what all this means of course is that conditions should be very good this morning and all ski areas are open as planned. Right now it is just around 0C at base, so not particularly cold. We might get a little bit more snow before things clear up (on maybe Thursday or Friday). Enjoy. :) --------------- Ski area information for Tuesday 6th February 2024 Ski areas in the Hakuba region, listed in alphabetical order. Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano New snowfall at base 2cm Snowfall at base this season 310cm Posted on Friday 2nd February 2024 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . Hakuba greetings to you! Well, February started with some rubbish rain (booooo!), but it was snowing later on (hurray!), and there are some modest amounts of snow being reported by ski areas this morning... ranging from 0cm to 10cm. (I get the feeling Goryu might be doing a bit of 'rounding up'!). It was quite windy too, so the snow that was falling was getting blown around and visibility was challenging in places. This morning started cloudy and fairly cold. At 11am it's still cloudy and it looks like there is some light snow falling at higher elevations. Still, some forecasts do say there will be some sun today, and there are in fact some faint hints of blue behind clouds in places right now, so maybe it will start clearing. They also predict quite a lot of sun over the weekend. I predict another busy weekend and I've got my eye on the snow that is forecast Monday/Tuesday. Sorry about being a bit late with some reports this week. Blame my visiting friends. ;) I should get back to a more normal routine from tomorrow. --------------- ABLE Hakuba Goryu Reported snowfall: Upper: 10cm Official snow depth: Upper: 235cm Toomi: 110cm Hakuba 47 Reported snowfall (overnight): Upper: 5cm Base: 3cm Official snow depth: Top: 240cm Base: 100cm Hakuba Cortina Reported snowfall: Upper: 0cm Official snow depth: Top: 180cm Base: 108cm Hakuba Happo-one Reported snowfall: Kurobishi: 0cm Usagidaira: 0cm Top of Riesen quad: 3cm (social media) Nakiyama: 0cm Official snow depth: Kurobishi: 230cm Usagidaira: 145cm Nakiyama: 55cm Hakuba Iwatake Snow Field Reported snowfall: Mountain Side: 0cm Village Side: 0cm Official snow depth: Mountain Side: 170cm Village Side: 100cm Hakuba Norikura Onsen Official snow depth: 200cm Jigatake Reported snowfall: 0cm Official snow depth: 90cm Kashimayari Official snow depth: 110cm Tsugaike Mountain Resort Official snow depth: Upper: 207cm Lower: 40cm White Resort Hakuba Sanosaka Official snow depth: 90cm --------------- Total snowfall accumulation this season so far (in upper areas) [The information below originates from the ski areas themselves, it is being checked and updated manually every report from public Hakuba Valley sources] ABLE Hakuba Goryu: 738cm Hakuba 47: 492cm Hakuba Happo-one: 625cm Hakuba Cortina: 521cm Tsugaike Mountain Resort: 566cm Hakuba Now 2023-2024 season Data as Friday 2nd February 2024 Total snowfall at base so far 310cm Number of days snowfall observed at base 34 days Most snowfall observed in 1 day 35cm (8th January) November 2023 snowfall 28cm reported on 4 days December 2023 snowfall 93cm reported on 13 days January 2024 snowfall 187cm reported on 16 days February 2024 snowfall 2cm reported on 1 day Previous report Next report All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Hakuba. There's varying amounts of snowfall is being reported by ski areas as you can see below. Looks like we can expect up to around 15cm of fresh on the mountain. Some sun is expected over the weekend. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . Good morning from Hakuba. And it's another cold morning when I can tell you about ski areas reporting up to 40cm of fresh snowfall. This is very good! And there will be more to report tomorrow as it is snowing nicely now and should continue through the day. Yey!! Visibility out there is very limited in places and wind is affecting some upper lifts (for example, at Happo-one and Goryu/47) at the start of the day. You can see the numbers in the list below (they are updated every day, of course), but this morning ski areas are reporting up to 40cm of fresh snowfall on upper areas, more like 15-20cm in lower areas. I have myself measured 22cm. Tsugaike are reporting up to 60cm of fresh in some wind blown areas. Oh yes. And it's still snowing and we are due snow through tomorrow. Limited visibility this morning. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . Yesterday we did get some snow on the mountain and this morning ski areas are mostly reporting up to 10cm (Happo-one is going with 20cm at Kurobishi). It's not the fluffiest of light dry snow, but definitely better than rain, for sure. This morning we have had some light (wet) snow falling around base areas, though it's more like rain away from those areas. While it probably won't amount to much in terms of new cm, today we can hope that it will just continue being snow... and not rain. OK, so let's fast forward to Tuesday. Temperatures are set to drop back down to normal mid-winter and we are due good amounts of snow, possibly heavy snow, through until Thursday. Just how that actually pans out, we will have to see, but it looks promising. --------------- ABLE Hakuba Goryu Reported snowfall: Upper: 10cm Official snow depth: Upper: 220cm Toomi: 110cm Hakuba 47 Reported snowfall (overnight): Upper: 10cm Base: 5cm Official snow depth: Top: 220cm Base: 90cm Hakuba Cortina Reported snowfall: Upper: ?cm Official snow depth: Top: 185cm Base: 105cm Hakuba Happo-one Reported snowfall: Kurobishi: 20cm Usagidaira: 12cm Top of Riesen quad: 10cm (social media) Nakiyama: 0cm Official snow depth: Kurobishi: 230cm Usagidaira: 155cm Nakiyama: 55cm Hakuba Iwatake Snow Field Reported snowfall: Mountain Side: 20cm Village Side: 0cm Official snow depth: Mountain Side: 160cm Village Side: 100cm Hakuba Norikura Onsen Official snow depth: 190cm Jigatake Reported snowfall: 10cm Official snow depth: 80cm Kashimayari Official snow depth: 100cm Tsugaike Mountain Resort Official snow depth: Upper: 222cm Lower: 37cm White Resort Hakuba Sanosaka Official snow depth: 75cm --------------- Total snowfall accumulation this season so far (in upper areas) [The information below originates from the ski areas themselves, it is being checked and updated manually every report from public Hakuba Valley sources] ABLE Hakuba Goryu: 633cm Hakuba 47: 412cm Hakuba Happo-one: 545cm Hakuba Cortina: 426cm Tsugaike Mountain Resort: 455cm Hakuba Now 2023-2024 season Data as Sunday 21st January 2024 Total snowfall at base so far 254cm Number of days snowfall observed at base 30 days Most snowfall observed in 1 day 35cm (8th January) November 2023 snowfall 28cm reported on 4 days December 2023 snowfall 93cm reported on 13 days January 2024 snowfall 133cm reported on 13 days Previous report Next report All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Hakuba. • Hakuba Now: Monday 15th January 2024

Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano New snowfall at base 19cm Snowfall at base this season 236cm Posted on Monday 15th January 2024 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . A lovely sunny day yesterday, and with the fresh snow on the mountain it was such a treat for everyone here. Including myself. Thank you, Nature. You're fab. And this morning we have received more fresh snow to keep things going. As you can see in the numbers below, we're looking at another 25-35cm more. And, I suspect, even more in places. I have measured another just under 20cm for this report. We don't have the sun this morning. It's still snowing and visibility looks pretty varied out there but ranging from OK to poor. Wind doesn't seem to be strong enough to be affecting any ski lifts at the start of the day. More snow is forecast through today and into tomorrow and heavy at times. This particularly snow will be followed by clearer skies again on Wednesday (which should definitely be worth taking a day off work for!) Happy Mondays! --------------- A very sobering bit of news. Someone lost their life due to avalanche yesterday. From what I understand, it was a man in his 30s and the location was backcountry off Happo-one (southern slope). Friends were on the scene quite quickly but unfortunately the attempts to save his live were not successful. It is very sad to hear such news and thoughts with family and close ones. Let's always keep it in mind to be prepared and be careful, and even more so if you are venturing out from the ski areas. --------------- ABLE Hakuba Goryu Reported snowfall: Upper: 30cm Official snow depth: Upper: 220cm Toomi: 100cm Hakuba 47 Reported snowfall (overnight): Upper: 35cm Base: 25cm Official snow depth: Top: 220cm Base: 80cm Hakuba Cortina Reported snowfall: Upper: about 25cm Official snow depth: Top: 200cm Base: 160cm Hakuba Happo-one Reported snowfall: Kurobishi: 35cm Usagidaira: 20cm Top of Riesen quad: 10cm (social media) Nakiyama: 5cm Official snow depth: Kurobishi: 240cm Usagidaira: 173cm Nakiyama: 75cm Hakuba Iwatake Snow Field Reported snowfall: Mountain Side: 25cm Village Side: 20cm Official snow depth: Mountain Side: 180cm Village Side: 130cm Hakuba Norikura Onsen Official snow depth: 190cm Jigatake Reported snowfall: 20cm Official snow depth: 90cm Kashimayari Official snow depth: 90cm Tsugaike Mountain Resort Official snow depth: Upper: 222cm Lower: 95cm White Resort Hakuba Sanosaka Official snow depth: 90cm --------------- Total snowfall accumulation this season so far (in upper areas) [The information below originates from the ski areas themselves, it is being checked and updated every report from Hakuba Valley sources] ABLE Hakuba Goryu: 579cm Hakuba 47: 372cm Hakuba Happo-one: 515cm Hakuba Cortina: 376cm Tsugaike Mountain Resort: 316cm Hakuba Now 2023-2024 season Data as Monday 15th January 2024 Total snowfall at base so far 236cm Number of days snowfall observed at base 27 days Most snowfall observed in 1 day 35cm (8th January) November 2023 snowfall 28cm reported on 4 days December 2023 snowfall 93cm reported on 13 days January 2024 snowfall 115cm reported on 10 days Previous report Next report All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Hakuba. • Hakuba Now: Sunday 14th January 2024

Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano New snowfall at base 24cm Snowfall at base this season 217cm Posted on Sunday 14th January 2024 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . Good morning from Hakuba. It is a beautiful cold morning with clear blue skies. What makes it even better is a lot of fresh snow. There was some snow overnight but mostly it was during the day yesterday. The result is various ski areas reporting up to 30-35cm of fresh snow in upper elevations since yesterday morning. For example. Hakuba 47 were reporting 20cm of snowfall during the day and this morning an extra 5cm in upper areas. Cortina are reporting 25cm since 3pm yesterday. Numbers aside, this morning should be excellent conditions along with a beautiful day to enjoy it. That's what matters! Just a quick word about snowfall numbers. The ski areas are all separate entities. They report in their own way, and by their own rules. Different elevations, different times, some just 'overnight' (curiously ignoring snow from the previous day), some 'since yesterday' (a bit like my numbers). Sometimes they look very different, even on the same day. A bit like today, perhaps. I just check the numbers that ski areas put out there and post them in this report for your information. I really can't do more than that (ie. explaining them every day). If I had to do that, I think my head might explode. (Or is that, implode?) My advice is to look at them and just get a general idea of what is going on through my own observed numbers and general commentary. Don't overthink it. Have fun. Relax. The observed snowfall numbers in this report come to you from the same person (ie. me) and from a consistent source (location/timing) every day throughout the season. I take the responsibly very seriously and you can trust them to be 'correct'. Though, obviously, snowfall varies depending on where you are - even within the close by areas. And 'Hakuba' is a wide area. So what you see, Hakuba visitor, may differ. Usually only slightly, hopefully, but we can both be 'correct'. (Click on the About tab close to the top of the report for more). More snow due overnight, tomorrow and Tuesday. --------------- ABLE Hakuba Goryu Reported snowfall: Upper: 35cm Official snow depth: Upper: 205cm Toomi: 100cm Hakuba 47 Reported snowfall (overnight): Upper: 5cm Base: 5cm Official snow depth: Top: 190cm Base: 60cm Hakuba Cortina Reported snowfall (since 3pm yesterday): Upper: 25cm Base: 25cm Official snow depth: Top: 200cm Base: 165cm Hakuba Happo-one Reported snowfall: Kurobishi: 5cm Usagidaira: 6cm Top of Riesen quad: 30cm (social media) Nakiyama: 5cm Official snow depth: Kurobishi: 205cm Usagidaira: 153cm Nakiyama: 70cm Hakuba Iwatake Snow Field Reported snowfall: Mountain Side: 20cm Village Side: 10cm Official snow depth: Mountain Side: 140cm Village Side: 90cm Hakuba Norikura Onsen Official snow depth: 165cm Jigatake Reported snowfall: 20cm Official snow depth: 70cm Kashimayari Official snow depth: 60cm Tsugaike Mountain Resort Official snow depth: Upper: 201cm Lower: 81cm White Resort Hakuba Sanosaka Official snow depth: 70cm --------------- Total snowfall accumulation this season so far (in upper areas) [The information below originates from the ski areas themselves, it is being checked and updated every report from Hakuba Valley sources] ABLE Hakuba Goryu: 549cm Hakuba 47: 337cm Hakuba Happo-one: 480cm Hakuba Cortina: 351cm Tsugaike Mountain Resort: 295cm Hakuba Now 2023-2024 season Data as Sunday 14th January 2024 Total snowfall at base so far 217cm Number of days snowfall observed at base 26 days Most snowfall observed in 1 day 35cm (8th January) November 2023 snowfall 28cm reported on 4 days December 2023 snowfall 93cm reported on 13 days January 2024 snowfall 96cm reported on 9 days Previous report Next report All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Hakuba. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . Good morning from Hakuba. It's snowing really nicely as I put this report together. And a good amount of fresh snow is being reported... basically up to 30-40cm in upper areas across the ski areas. By 9:00am I have just measured just under 20cm. Even though we have sun due tomorrow, there will be more snow to report tomorrow morning as it is expected to continue falling until tonight. Excellent. Should be lovely snow conditions this morning.
