Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 2cm
Snowfall at base this season 254cm

Posted on Sunday 21st January 2024 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here.

Yesterday we did get some snow on the mountain and this morning ski areas are mostly reporting up to 10cm (Happo-one is going with 20cm at Kurobishi). It's not the fluffiest of light dry snow, but definitely better than rain, for sure.

This morning we have had some light (wet) snow falling around base areas, though it's more like rain away from those areas. While it probably won't amount to much in terms of new cm, today we can hope that it will just continue being snow... and not rain.

OK, so let's fast forward to Tuesday.

Temperatures are set to drop back down to normal mid-winter and we are due good amounts of snow, possibly heavy snow, through until Thursday. Just how that actually pans out, we will have to see, but it looks promising.
