Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 2cm
Snowfall at base this season 310cm

Posted on Friday 2nd February 2024 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here.

Hakuba greetings to you!

Well, February started with some rubbish rain (booooo!), but it was snowing later on (hurray!), and there are some modest amounts of snow being reported by ski areas this morning... ranging from 0cm to 10cm. (I get the feeling Goryu might be doing a bit of 'rounding up'!). It was quite windy too, so the snow that was falling was getting blown around and visibility was challenging in places.

This morning started cloudy and fairly cold. At 11am it's still cloudy and it looks like there is some light snow falling at higher elevations.

Still, some forecasts do say there will be some sun today, and there are in fact some faint hints of blue behind clouds in places right now, so maybe it will start clearing.

They also predict quite a lot of sun over the weekend.

I predict another busy weekend and I've got my eye on the snow that is forecast Monday/Tuesday.

Sorry about being a bit late with some reports this week. Blame my visiting friends. ;) I should get back to a more normal routine from tomorrow.
