Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 0cm
Snowfall at base this season 308cm

Posted on Wednesday 31st January 2024 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here.

Such beautiful clear blue skies yesterday! Though, warm, too (up to around 6C in town). Let me pull out one of my well-used lines... what a stunning mountain backdrop we have here in Hakuba! Amazing. Anyway, I had a blast and I'm sure lots of others did too.

I am posting a very early morning report today, as I have to get myself over to Nagano station to pick up a few visiting friends from Australia. (Check out the early morning images below, from around 7am. Very cool).

It’s a pretty easy one to prepare, though, as it’s probably going to be another fine (and mild after a cold start) morning, though we do have some cloud early morning. Some forecasts tell us to expect a cloudy afternoon and perhaps precipitation.

The numbers below are not all updated as it is too early, but there will be no fresh and the snow depth numbers probably haven’t changed much.

I hope there might be some fresh snow to report by tomorrow and it certainly looks like it is going to be colder than the last few days (which have been warmer than we would like).
