Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 25cm
Snowfall at base this season 303cm

Posted on Thursday 25th January 2024 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here.

Good morning from Hakuba.

And it's another cold morning when I can tell you about ski areas reporting up to 40cm of fresh snowfall.

This is very good! And there will be more to report tomorrow as it is snowing nicely now and should continue through the day. Yey!!

Visibility out there is very limited in places and wind is affecting some upper lifts (for example, at Happo-one and Goryu/47) at the start of the day.

I wonder if we might get to see some clearer skies sometime during the day tomorrow; Saturday looks likely to be clearer.

Whatever, snow conditions should be excellent.

Exciting times, but always remember to take care out there.
