The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here . We are back to much more winterlike conditions this morning in Yuzawa. It's cold (-5 in town), snow is falling and there's a moderate wind as well. Resorts around town are reporting up to 10cm of fresh snow since yesterday. The snow is actually forecast for the day and it did seem set in, but as I am writing there are some clearings of cloud and even the sun out for short periods. I think that is temporary though - local reports tell us to expect up to 20cm before 4pm and then continuing into tomorrow. I'm going with that local report! Stronger winds affecting Kagura again and the Tashiro area is closed for the day. Limited operations from Mitsumata Ropeway as well, though the latest news from Kagura is that they are hoping to get the main quad running later if possible. Other resorts around town are open as normal. 3 day weekend coming up in Japan of course and this is one of the big weekends of the ski season here. Popular places will get busy. Maybe very busy. It's actually a good time to perhaps explore less well known places to avoid the crowds. Whatever, hope you have a fun weekend wherever you are and wherever you choose to ski or snowboard. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here . The snow yesterday didn't really amount to much more than a dusting at town level and the resorts aren't reporting any fresh this morning. This morning the sun has been out. Some thin wispy cloud up there but generally blue skies. Out in the Minamiuonuma valley and looking north there does seem to be more cloud and indeed the local forecast is for the skies to cloud over later on today and hopefully by tonight it will be snowing. It's about +1 degrees in Yuzawa at the moment with a light wind. Good visibility and quiet slopes. Snow likely tomorrow and on and off through until Monday really. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here . Light somewhat wet snow earlier this morning in Yuzawa, but actually some bigger flakes of snow are falling right now outside. Just a dusting really at town level and a bit more on the mountains but with snow forecast for the day hopefully it can build up a bit. At the moment it is about 0C in town with a slight SE wind. It's probably not going to last long though and by tomorrow we will probably start the day with the sun shining. Friday is set to be snowy and windy though so hopefully we'll be primed for the weekend. Actually things looking good for decent snowfall from Friday into next week, so fingers crossed. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here . Rain, rain. Yes we got more than our fair share of it yesterday. Back in Minamiuonuma last night it was really pounding down as well. Can't have done us any favours and this morning the snow depth numbers of the resorts are mostly taking a dip. Let's try to get past that.... Overnight, the rain turned into snow and this morning just 1-2cm or so around town areas and up to 10cm on higher elevations. Very light snow is continuing to fall this morning though it's not the kind that will have new cm piling up. Grey clouds all around and the forecast is actually just for cloud for the day. It is currently -1C in Yuzawa town area and definitely feels colder than yesterday. It's not too windy in town but higher up wind is causing problems at the Naeba areas - the Dragondola is closed today along with the Tashiro area of Kagura. Mitsumata Ropeway is open, with Kagura up until the main quad lift there. Hopefully we have the rain behind us now and we can get back to snow. Maybe some overnight and then on Friday again and Sunday too. So it looks like it will be on and off in the coming few days. No new snow to report this morning from the town or on the slopes, and while there was a few flurries of snow earlier on, and it is generally just been cloudy up there. But actually the sun is out right now with some blue sky on show and while the forecast is for a cloudy day it might well be one of those days when things clear up. It's about +1 at the moment with a high of about +6 later on, and possibly... rain. If those temps drop soon enough it will hopefully be snow by the time I write the report tomorrow morning. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here . Yesterday wasn't one of the days to remember from this season, generally ending up wet with rain persisting into the evening. Last thing I looked it was sleet later on and this morning we do have some new snowfall to report around town. Perhaps around 5cm and the ski resorts are reporting 3-10cm of fresh snow this morning. The mountains are covered in cloud this morning with light snow continuing to fall. The forecast tells us to expect cloud for the rest of the day and so it will perhaps ease off soon. It's a fair deal colder than yesterday, but tomorrow we will be getting warmer once again with a high of +4 on the local forecast and a good chance of more rain I'm afraid with only higher elevations due to get snow. Snow on Wednesday and then what looks like it could be a nice good strong cold pattern coming in around Friday are the days to look out for in the coming week. Rain and warm conditions have not done the snow conditions any favours of course and so we could do with a new delivery of light and fresh snow to kick start things back. At the moment it isn't raining here in central Yuzawa but just a short while I was over near Yuzawa Park and it was raining. So changeable conditions this morning though more consistent rain is likely this afternoon. Overnight it was very warm up to around 8 degrees. It's about 7 at the moment and hopefully overnight we can expect that to drop back down into the negatives and bring with it snowfall later on and into tomorrow. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here . Stunner of a day here in Yuzawa again. Blue skies all round and it's calm. No wind. Amazing views all round. It's warm out there too.... 8C at the moment! Seems calm to me here now but apparently stronger winds are due fairly soon, as Gala Yuzawa are closing from 2pm today. From what I can tell people with tickets for Gala Yuzawa this afternoon will be able to use them at Yuzawa Kogen, Ishiuchi Maruyama or NASPA Ski Garden. Clouds are due to come in later on though and we might get some rain overnight and tomorrow as it's probably going to be about as warm tomorrow as well. Would be good if the rain kept to a minimum of course and some local forecasts do give us a chance of a bit of sun as well, so we'll just have to see how it turns out. Most forecasts do seem to agree though that Sunday will be better than Saturday. Have a fun weekend. Remember to keep the fingers crossed to prevent that rain! The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here . The clouds have dispersed for the most part and we are left with a sunny, bright morning here in Yuzawa. It's mostly blue skies with some very thin wispy like clouds remaining in places this morning. There's just a slight breeze and the temperature is currently around 0C after dipping down to around -6 earlier on in the morning. A high of about 4-5C is forecast later this afternoon. It's looking like tomorrow is going to be more plus alpha. Sunny with things warming up further still. Come Saturday, it might even be approaching double digit temperatures in the positive, so that's not particulary positive news to hear. Looks like we need to get past this warm spell before we can click back into cold winter like conditions. It still looks like rain is likely on Saturday unfortunately with hopefully a return to snow on Sunday (though we can't expect a major snowfall just yet). The groomed slopes around town are looking very inviting this morning. And I'm sure it will feel brilliant to be out there on the mountain on a day like today. Just want to point out the big jump in some of the numbers below for resorts in Minamiuonuma.... there hasn't been a huge amount of snow overnight, the numbers have just not been updated by the resorts for a bit. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here . It is a foggy, cloudy morning in Yuzawa with light snow falling in places. Just a dusting really around town with resorts telling of up to 5cm or so of new snowfall. It didn't dip below 0C overnight so rather mild and at the moment it is still around 0C in town. The skies will probably clear up later on today and it should be cold overnight followed by clearer and sunnier skies tomorrow. If the forecast is correct it will be very sunny in fact and Friday may well also start off similar. With warm temperatures forecast on Friday and Saturday - up to around 10 degrees on Saturday?! - there's a good chance of rain later on Friday into Saturday, but hopefully we can avoid that. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here . Very sorry for the lateness of this report today. We have had a few technical issues today that has affected some of our reports. Anyway, it has generally been a snowy day here. Not the kind that gives us lots of new cm on the ground, more like a dusting. It has eased off for now this evening and currently about 0C. The Naeba Now report mentioned this earlier on today, but Kagura have announced that the top No5 pair lift at the resort will be open from this Friday. That's way earlier than usual and good news because it opens up a really fun area. It's going to be strange being up there at the beginning of February, but I think it will be a popular decision. Cloud and light snow forecast for tomorrow so perhaps similar to today. And then sun on Thursday. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here . Not much new snow since yesterday in the end. In fact, the skies cleared up in the afternoon somewhat and it was a beautiful clear evening in Yuzawa and neighbouring Minamiuonuma valley. This morning more cloud back and light snow has been falling and snow is forecast for the day. I was in Yuzawa earlier but right now I am in Minamiuonuma and at the moment here there are breaks in the cloud, some blue sky and the sun is shining through in places. We'll have to see if the clouds or the sun wins through in the end, but I don't expect much in terms of cm of new snowfall today. Not really for the rest of this week actually either with no major cold front that will bring a lot of snow due through the week. The forecast tells us to expect some very mild conditions towards the end of the week and perhaps some rain before the weekend when hopefully snow will be back.
