Earlier on some clearer skies above and the sun was out though there's a lot of fast moving cloud up there which is blocking the sun right at the moment. Clearer conditions are forecast for today so maybe it will clear up. No wind this morning and so conditions out there should be very good. The latest Zao Now report can be found here . It has been quiet here since last weekend. The Chuo Number 1 lift and Utopia Number 1 lifts hope to be re-opening from tomorrow. The former plans to continue to be open with the latter stopping again from Monday... until we get more snow that is. We got 10cm or so of snow on Wednesday and just a few cm this morning to report. So for the record I'll put 12cm as the new snowfall number for today. The skijo is saying that there was 10cm or so at the top of the mountain. It is cloudy at the moment with no wind. Snowfall is expected overnight tonight but I doubt we can expect that much. The forecast for the week ahead isn't looking too snowy as it stands at the moment either. So it looks like we will have to make do with very limited operations from this weekend for the moment. The latest Zao Now report can be found here . There's absolutely loads of snow to report this morning. Yesterday was blizzard conditions though lifts managed to open; this morning it's still pretty wild out there but more lifts moving from the start of the day. Whiteout and deep snow conditions. How long did it take me to be able to say something like that this season?! Wind has been blowing it around but the average in the space behind where I live gives me 46cm to report. Yes, forty six cm! Some of the official snow depth numbers have increased, but the official snow depth for Paradise at 70cm is... silly. Never mind, with so much snow falling here in the village areas it should be an awesome morning up there if you can brave the conditions and just like playing in fresh. Some may be more tempted to sit it out again and wait for the storm to pass. With all this new snowfall, poor visibility and excitement due to the new snowfall, extra care is required. We don't want to be hearing news of lost skiers and boarders on the evening news. It looks like the snow should continue coming down today and basically through the weekend, though perhaps ease off somewhat after today. Thank you Snow Gods, we do love you. We always did. All lifts apart from three Onsen lifts are closed as of 9am. The latest Zao Now report can be found here . Hello and welcome back! We have received the first snowfall of the season down here at base. And a good 10cm of it as well. It started after lunchtime yesterday and this morning we have that great feeling of having to go out and shovel some snow. (It gets less great a feeling as the season progresses, believe me!) We're hoping for some more snow tonight and tomorrow. The official opening ceremony of Zao Onsen will be held on Saturday 5th December over in the Uwanodai area of the resort. If there's enough snow though, lifts will no doubt be taking skiers and boarders out onto the slopes before then. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here . It’s colder today, with a bit of fresh snow out there. It snowed for much of the day, although a lot of it early in the day was tiny ice particles that didn’t result in much new snow (and had a really sandy feel underfoot). Nicer snow in the evening, though, including some perfect star-like crystals (very nice looking). I thought it might result in a bigger accumulation than we actually got. The clouds are dissipating over Mt. Myoko right now, with some blue skies showing through. Still cloudy to the east, though, so the sun isn’t out yet. The latest Furano Now report can be found here . A whiff, and I do mean a whiff, of new snow last night which somehow the resort interpreted as 5 cm. It must be a typo. They report 5 cm on top, and I'm willing to grant that, but certainly not down here at the base. I'm not banging on them too hard, they are fairly accurate in their reporting, but they just have a different measuring location than I do. Anyway, nice day today. Sun is out. Enjoy. Yes, I am not in Niseko this morning and so this is a rare 'not first-hand' report. I will always let you know when that is the case. Todays information comes to you thanks to a quick phone call with a friend and an examination of webcams and the official site etc. Lots of cloud this morning (though the sun appears to be trying to break though and quite bright in places), and light snow has been falling early on. The Avalanche Report is saying 5cm of fresh snow, with Hanazono going with an optimistic (and certainly good) sounding up to 20cm on the mountain. Hirafu goes with 10cm, but Annupuri isn't posting any. My friend informs me 5cm. (I might adjust the snowfall number on this report once I get back this evening if it seems required). I will be back to my base tomorrow, but my next report will be posted later than usual. Enough with all my excuses today! A little snow since my last report, but it didn't amount to much in terms of new cm. Hakuba Cortina appears to be reporting 5-10cm of fresh and Goryu reporting 2cm. It's pretty cold at the start of the day but we have a lovely morning with blue sky and sunshine. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . We actually have a bit of snow this morning. It's not much more than a dusting, so don't get overly excited! Perhaps there might be a layer higher up on the mountain. Visibility looks limited up there early this morning, but it looks like there's some snow on the trees. Still, forecasts do tell us to expect clearer skies sometime this morning and some sun too. It should remain quite cold though. Sunshine is also forecast for tomorrow morning, with the promise of a delivery of fresh snow tomorrow night and into Thursday morning. It's not set to last long, with more sun Friday onwards.
