Independent snow and weather reporting from the Zao region of Yamagata
New snowfall at base 12cm
Snowfall at base this season 12cm
Posted on Friday 29th November 2013 This is an archived report. The latest Zao Now report can be found here.
It has been quiet here since last weekend. The Chuo Number 1 lift and Utopia Number 1 lifts hope to be re-opening from tomorrow. The former plans to continue to be open with the latter stopping again from Monday... until we get more snow that is.
We got 10cm or so of snow on Wednesday and just a few cm this morning to report. So for the record I'll put 12cm as the new snowfall number for today. The skijo is saying that there was 10cm or so at the top of the mountain.
It is cloudy at the moment with no wind. Snowfall is expected overnight tonight but I doubt we can expect that much. The forecast for the week ahead isn't looking too snowy as it stands at the moment either. So it looks like we will have to make do with very limited operations from this weekend for the moment.
