The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here. Fine weather yesterday morning with cloud gradually forming, especially to the north of Yuzawa over the Minamiuonuma valley. It was snowing by evening and this morning there has been about 10cm. A bit on the wet side (in town at least) as it isn't as cold as it has been. Currently just slightly under 0C in town. Light snow is still falling though it isn't expected to continue for long and there might be some clearer skies later on. Tomorrow looks like it will be a nice day too with sun from early on. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here. We did get a bit of sunshine again yesterday before the clouds moved in again. At first, they brought rain to the region but the good news is that we have a layer of snow this morning. Kagura are reporting 30cm of fresh snowfall. Unfortunately, the Tashiro Area of Kagura will be closed today due to strong forecast winds. Maiko Snow Resort are reporting 20cm. And we have measured 14cm at our measuring point. It's probably not enough in lower areas for a complete reset, but very welcome Current temperature is -0.5C and it is still snowing lightly. Cloud and light snow at times is what is forecast for today and tomorrow. We can probably expect clearer skies over the weekend and it will be milder again. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here. The main headline this morning is the southerly wind. Unfortunately, due to the noisy wind we have at the moment, both Kagura and GALA Yuzawa are going to be closed for the day. The Yuzawa Kogen Ropeway and top area of Yuzawa Kogen ski area, the gondola and top area of Maiko Snow Resort, and the gondola and top section of Naeba are also closed because of the conditions. Other ski areas are also being affected with some other lifts on hold. We have tried to add as much current info to the report as possible (below updated at 9:30am), but things might change. The best bet today are the lower, less exposed ski areas. The good news is that we should get some snow later on and tonight and the weekend should be calmer. It will also be milder again, especially on Sunday. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here. Yesterday wasn't the most inspiring of days, but this morning we can quickly refresh our minds with some fresh snow on the ground. We have just measured 15cm, both here in Yuzawa and just to the north near Ishiuchi. Kagura are reporting 20cm early morning about an hour ago. They are also saying that the top Number 5 pair lift will be closed today (due to wind), as will the connecting course between Tashiro and Kagura. Yuzawa Kogen are saying that top lifts might be running slow due to wind too. Other exposed lifts might be affected, though there's no more specific news to be found as of 8:30am. It is snowing now and hopefully it will be through the day today and tomorrow too. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here. Happy to report that we have enjoyed more snow since yesterday, and a fair amount of it too. Kagura reporting 60cm. Maiko Snow Resort are reporting 30cm. We have measured 36cm in Yuzawa (and 27cm to the north of Ishiuchi). The JMA (Japan Meteorological Agency) reading for 24 hours in Yuzawa is 34cm. So, there's a good new layer of snow out there at the moment. It is still snowing and we are expecting snow on and off for the day today and perhaps overnight, so there should be more to report tomorrow. The temperature in town now is just under -3C. Kagura is reporting that due to wind, the Kagura Area of the resort is open up to the Kagura Gondola. The Yuzawa Kogen Ropeway might also be affected this morning. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here. After the rain yesterday, it is snowing this morning. It's a bit on the wet side, but it's snow! Slightly under 5cm so far, but it is still snowing and due to snow through today and tomorrow, and perhaps as long as into Wednesday morning. Let's see. Currently it is around 0C in town and it shouldn't be getting much warmer than that during the day; tomorrow will be colder. Kagura are reporting 15cm and Maiko Snow Resort are reporting 5cm of fresh snow this morning. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here. Good morning from Yuzawa. There's a lot going on this morning! First of all... new snow. Kagura is reporting a whopping 80cm of it (presumably up top), Maiko Snow Resort is reporting 30cm. We have measured 36cm at our measuring point in Yuzawa and 23cm just to the north of Ishiuchi Maruyama. So some varying amounts there, but bottom line is that there's a good new layer of fresh snow and a lot as you go higher. Excellent. Less great is that you won't be able to check out all the snow at Kagura because the Kagura Area is on hold and the Tashiro Area is closed (due to strong forecast wind), so only the Mitsumata Area is open this morning there. The Yuzawa Kogen Ropeway is also not operating this morning and the Southern Area of GALA Yuzawa is closed due to avalanche risk (the main Central and Northern Areas of GALA Yuzawa are open as normal). Some other lifts might also be affected this morning. It is still snowing this morning with snow due through the day (though there have been a few quick spells of brighter conditions this morning, though they were quick to disappear). Currently just under -2C in town. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here. There has been more snow since yesterday. Kagura ski area is reporting another impressive 50cm and the lower Maiko Snow Resort is reporting 10cm. We have measured 15cm more since the last report. So it seems like there is another decent layer out there and once again quite a bit more the higher you go. It is a cloudy start to the morning, with a chance of some clearer skies and sun later; and clearer skies are likely tomorrow - at least at times and possibly all day (forecasts differ). The Southern Area of GALA Yuzawa is back open this morning. The Tashiro Area of Kagura is also open again this morning, though the Tashiro-Kagura connecting course (and the top Number 5 lift at Kagura) are closed. Long night skiing at Kandatsu tonight (until 2am tomorrow morning). The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here. After a mostly overcast day yesterday, this morning it is snowing and colder. The snow is on the wet side for the moment, with just a little on the ground so far. Both Kagura and Maiko Snow Resort are reporting 10cm of fresh snow. We are measuring 2cm at town level. Hopefully there will be more today and tomorrow. Kagura are reporting it to be quite windy and that might affect one or two lifts (though the ski area is open). Clearer skies are due from Monday, so let's get as much snow in as possible! Limited visibility out there early morning. Official 'Yuzawa Fuyu Hanabi 2023' fireworks planned for tonight at Iwappara (6:55pm), Kagura Mitsumata Ropeway (8:00pm) and NASPA Ski Garden (9:00pm). The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here. Good morning from Yuzawa, an early report today. Snow on and off yesterday that didn't really amount to much in terms of new cm (in town anyway), and more overnight giving us 20cm since yesterday morning. Having said that, Kagura are reporting an impressive 50cm of fresh snow this morning. Maiko Snow Resort, closer to town areas, report 10cm ('since last night'). We have measured 19cm at our measuring point in central Yuzawa, with just over 12cm to the north of Yuzawa in Ishiuchi. A big difference in the numbers there - it's a pattern that becomes more common later in the season as more snow falls at higher elevations than in town. Unfortunately the Tashiro Area of Kagura will be closed today due to strong forecast winds. The Kagura Area is probably also affected, but no confirmed announcement at the time of this report. GALA Yuzawa is opening. Yuzawa Kogen is still making a decision about the Ropeway. There is also a chance that other (particularly exposed) lifts might be affected by wind today. Check before heading out. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here. We had snow falling on and off yesterday. It was light at times and heavier at times too, and with some spells of clearer skies in places too. Kagura are reporting another 20cm of fresh snow this morning and we have measured 14cm since our last report. There is some cloud around this morning, but increasingly blue sky. We are expecting clear and sunny weather both today and tomorrow. Conditions should be very nice indeed this morning. Currently just above -2C in town. All ski areas should be open.
