Independent snow and weather reporting from the Yuzawa & Minamiuonuma region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 14cm
Snowfall at base this seas 613cm

Posted on Thursday 9th February 2023 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here.

We did get a bit of sunshine again yesterday before the clouds moved in again. At first, they brought rain to the region but the good news is that we have a layer of snow this morning.

Kagura are reporting 30cm of fresh snowfall. Unfortunately, the Tashiro Area of Kagura will be closed today due to strong forecast winds.

Maiko Snow Resort are reporting 20cm.

And we have measured 14cm at our measuring point. It's probably not enough in lower areas for a complete reset, but very welcome

Current temperature is -0.5C and it is still snowing lightly. Cloud and light snow at times is what is forecast for today and tomorrow.

We can probably expect clearer skies over the weekend and it will be milder again. There's snow due early next week too...
