Good morning from Yuzawa, an early report today.
Snow on and off yesterday that didn't really amount to much in terms of new cm (in town anyway), and more overnight giving us 20cm since yesterday morning.
Having said that, Kagura are reporting an impressive 50cm of fresh snow this morning. Maiko Snow Resort, closer to town areas, report 10cm ('since last night'). We have measured 19cm at our measuring point in central Yuzawa, with just over 12cm to the north of Yuzawa in Ishiuchi.
A big difference in the numbers there - it's a pattern that becomes more common later in the season as more snow falls at higher elevations than in town.
Unfortunately the Tashiro Area of Kagura will be closed today due to strong forecast winds. The Kagura Area is probably also affected, but no confirmed announcement at the time of this report. GALA Yuzawa is opening. Yuzawa Kogen is still making a decision about the Ropeway.
There is also a chance that other (particularly exposed) lifts might be affected by wind today. Check before heading out.
Tomorrow, it will probably be sunny.
