A dusting of snowfall overnight as the rain turned into snow and it is snowing with more conviction now as I am writing this report and already a few cm of snow on the top of cars parked at the ski resorts.

Just a fairly thin layer of new snow from yesterday but this morning it's blue skies over Shiga Kogen and while it's still below zero, it's not too far under and so quite a mild start to the day.

Not as clear this morning with a greyer look to things over Shiga Kogen. Low pockets of cloud in places but generally visibility good and the sun trying to shine through the clouds in places.

It's a lovely clear morning in Shiga Kogen, quite the contrast to the conditions that we had yesterday.

More good news this morning, the snow is coming down and the winds are blowing - it feels like a good old winter storm.

Probably 15cm or so yesterday but the snow eased off and overnight no more to report.

The snow has arrived and we're up above 1m of snow at some of the resorts around Shiga Kogen at last. Nice snow too, it's good and cold and if it continues to fall today we should get a decent amount from this.

A bit surprising perhaps but the sun is out over Shiga Kogen and all is calm. A calm before a storm, perhaps?

Morning from Shiga Kogen, where from today more lifts are open and more connections between the different resorts are skiable.

A few more cm indeed we got yesterday, though not an exciting amount to report.

It is a lovely morning here in Shiga Kogen with the sun shining down on us and everywhere looking all snowy white and extremely skiable/snowboardable!

A bit of a later report today - I was down in town and saying hello to the 'snow monkeys' at Jigokudani. They were all huddled together in the hot spring and looking very relaxed as well.

The snow really turned on yesterday afternoon and this morning we are still in the middle of a very decent snow storm. It is coming down in style at the moment.

It has been snowing since yesterday in the region, though not quite as much as we were expecting with the forecast like it was. Probably 15cm or so since my report on Friday.
