None of the resorts have submitted snow reports today--maybe busy doing those end-of-the-month billings and reporting--but I'll give you the officially, me-observed data for the last day of January.

It looked like it might be getting sunny early in the morning, but the light snow turned back on again, so hopefully there will be a little fresh powder out there (we could use a little reset in places).

A little light snow today, after a good fall yesterday. The sun peeked out for a few minutes an hour or so ago, but we're back to clouds and occasional snow.

After a good day of moderate to heavy snowfall and some pretty strong winds at times, the snow slowed down overnight.

We heard reports of the highways closing further north, but as of 6 this morning, the snow was just trickling down.

The snow did in fact start to fall last night and into the morning, although the sun is shining just as I write this.

It is sunny today - a clear, beautiful day, just a few fluffy clouds in the sky, and a light breeze from the southwest (it's always hard to tell here at the base at Akakan, because the winds pass around Mt. Myoko and the gap around Mt. Maeyama, and seem more southerly than they probably really are.

After a pretty good snowfall last night (got the wife worrying about snow removal, while the writer was off in Tokyo) but which didn't add too much snow to the base, it was a pretty gray day, but with good snow conditions.

Well, unfortunately it's one of those few days in mid season when I have to report... rain.

A lot of snow is falling today; not always particularly heavy (at least by Myoko standards) but it's falling all the time.

It's a mixed day in Myoko--the sun keeps poking out between patches of light snow. Can't decide what it wants to do.

After a pretty nice day of light, ongoing snow, things really got turned on towards the end of yesterday, with big, light flakes falling heavily through the night and into this morning.

The sun is out today. Now, I've made my preference for pounding snow (soft underfoot, keeps out the riffraff), but the mountains were really beautiful in all their white glory this morning.
