After a good day of moderate to heavy snowfall and some pretty strong winds at times, the snow slowed down overnight. Probably 15-20cm was the overnight total on top of yesterday's 30 or so (sorry, didn't get the ruler out during the morning snowthrowing). We have a little sunshine at the moment (which is nice for getting that snow off the roof), although a bit more snow seems likely through the day.
For backcountry people: we had a serious woomph at about 1800 on an east-facing slope yesterday -- probably due to the sun crust that's down about 60cm in the snowpack.
A solid sound like thunder and the pack definitely dropped -- no problem where we were, but pretty exciting anyway. On some steep slopes, especially with the energy of the sun, it could be more hazardous today, so please be careful!
