Wow, at -12c in the village it is feeling really cold, but luckily there is no wind whipping around today.

For most of yesterday there was a constant snowfall coming down on the resort, and the village, which meant there was a never ending fresh supply of soft powder on top of the runs.

There's 5cm of fresh snow to report from base here, most of which has fallen in the last couple of hours.

Today is the beginning of the long weekend here in Japan with Monday being a national holiday.

Not only is it shaping up to be a great weekend here in Furano, it is going to be a great Friday as well.

Last night I had a night ski and was pleased and relieved to find dry and light Central Hokkaido snow under my skis and falling all around.

Furano might get to see some sun tomorrow. Light, dry snow has fallen today and it still falling at present down in Kitanomine.

Had great skiing today and found excellent powder on every run.

There's lots of snow but it's heavy down low...

I often struggle between what is moderate snow and what is heavy snow.
