Well, snow yesterday and this morning there are beautiful blue skies above the mountain which is looking truly delicious. I want to take a big bite.

A quick early one this morning but I bring good news, measuring 13cm of fresh snow and snow is forecast for the day so fingers crossed it will build up further.

I need to clearly note that I am in Matsumoto this morning so I am going on what my (trusted) friend is telling me. I will check again later and adjusting if necessary.

It's shaping up to be a great morning here. Some cloud still around after the snow-fest of yesterday; the resort is not reporting any fresh but I have some to report since writing yesterday.

Heavy, as in falling quickly and building up. Light, as in light and fluffy.

We had some variable weather conditions yesterday in the end.

I remember saying yesterday that the snow might build up again, but that didn't last long and this morning the resort are reporting 0cm of fresh which seems quite surprising.

The resort is reporting 15cm on their official website for 24 hours; and 10cm in a short period from early morning.

A great start to the year yesterday. The weather changed during the day with a return of snow clouds by night time and this morning there's around 10cm of fresh on the ground.

The snow clouds have cleared leaving us with a picture perfect view of the mountain this morning, looking beautiful with a blue sky backdrop.

12cm of snow to report since yesterday and right now it is cloudy. The snow clouds are taking a rest... for the moment.

If you were hoping for a calm and sunny New Year, you will be disappointed. But if you came looking for some lovely powder and mid-winter conditions, no doubt you'll be very happy at the moment.

Yes, things are good. I have measured 34cm of fresh snowfall since my report yesterday and the resort itself is reporting 30cm.

Not great if you like sunshine and blue skies. But if you love quality fresh snow, there's a lot of it around this morning.
