Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 47cm
Snowfall at base this season 457cm

Posted on Thursday 25th January 2018 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here.

Good morning from Nozawa.

It's really very cold this morning. Possibly and probably the coldest of the season.

And we have some Nozawa-like snow on the ground too.

The resort is reporting a bunch of varied numbers - since yesterday morning the numbers add up to more on Nagasaka area than Yamabiko which is interesting - and I have measured 47cm myself.

Bottom line - a lot of fresh snow.

With more on the way today, tomorrow and into and beyond the weekend. It's exciting to think how much we might get out of this.

Conditions out there this morning are very cold with poor visibility and some wind thrown into the mix too - so not for everyone, but if you make it out you should be rewarded with some lovely light snow. And once this storm moves on, conditions should be awesome mountain-wide for everyone.

Lifts appear to be opening as planned as the report goes up.

In the meantime, lots more please.

Take care!
