Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 20cm
Snowfall at base this season 410cm

Posted on Wednesday 24th January 2018 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here.

Did you see that news about the eruption over in Kusatsu yesterday?! Yikes. Nozawa is unaffected - more on that situation below.

Anyway, you want snow news don't you?

Here it is:

The resort is reporting around 20cm of fresh snow since yesterday morning across the mountain and that is pretty much what I have measured too. So a nice new layer - perhaps not as much as we expected. But the forecast remains snow, snow and more snow over the next few days.

So we continue to expect some big numbers.

Conditions should be good this morning; visibility somewhat limited on the upper parts of the resort.

More snow news tomorrow.
