Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 7cm
Snowfall at base this season 765cm

Posted on Thursday 25th February 2021 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here.

Yesterday visibility remained limited up top for lots of the time, better below and even some sun... with light snow. So mixed weather.

Today should be more consistent.

It is a cold start.

There's a bit more fresh snow - around 20cm being reported from the Uenotaira area since yesterday morning - and the sun is out. It is going to be a fine day and it should be keeping quite cold. The ski area is reporting a temperature of -13C on Yamabiko as of 7am.

More cloud is forecast at the moment for tomorrow, perhaps with some more light snow going into Saturday morning (and sunny skies due that day).

Fresh snowfall recorded by the resort (since yesterday afternoon):

- Yamabiko (1407m): 12cm

- Uenotaira (1230m): 22cm

- Hikage (660m): 5cm

- Nagasaka (615m): 9cm

- Karasawa (563m): 3cm
