Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 2cm
Snowfall at base this season 449cm

Posted on Thursday 16th January 2014 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.

An early report today, because it's a day for a climb in the hills.

That means no official snow reports from the town, but we only got a very light dusting of snow overnight. It looks like snow could fall, with gray clouds over the peaks and a freshening wind that's not sure which way it wants to blow (a bit from the west, a bit from the north, the normal flows around the base of Mt. Myoko).

Conditions have improved a lot, but we could still use some heavy (or as we say here, normal) snow to fill in the small trees offpiste.
