It's warm (and it was warm yesterday, too), and we're just waiting now for the rain to start falling. With the local weather reports giving an 80-90 percent chance, I think it's likely that things are going to be wet soon. With a strong west wind, we're also watching the snowpack get gobbled up. Spring is definitely here--for the moment. The freezing line continues its crazy up and down movement; it will be at about 3,000 meters midday, but will fall all the way to sea level by this evening, so we may be back to cold and snow after warm and rain.
In the backcountry, keep an eye on the cornices--they're starting to fall with the warm weather, and they're big. We saw some serious slides and debris inside the caldera around Mt. Myoko yesterday; you don't want to be under them when they happen to come down.
