Independent snow and weather reporting from the Furano region of Hokkaido

New snowfall at base 5cm
Snowfall at base this season 296cm

Posted on Saturday 7th January 2017 This is an archived report. The latest Furano Now report can be found here.

Great news this morning with the arrival of 5cm of nice light powder snow overnight. There are still some very light snow flurries coming down and this may continue through the day. This new snow is accompanied by nice sunny weather and blue skies so it is definitely a day to head out to the lifts as soon as possible.

Tomorrow is forecast to be clear and sunny, and then from Monday onwards continuous snow is forecast through until Thursday at least. It certainly looks like the mini dry spell we have experienced is over, and next week will give plenty of powder days.
