NoFakie 45
It looks like they're making kushikatsu (kushi-skewer, katsu-cutlet). Its a range of breaded meat, seafood, and veggie skewers deep fried in lard and served with a range of flavorings such as Japanese sweet sauce, flavoured salt, ketchup, and ponzu (soy+citrus+vinegar). If you go to a good kushikatsu-ya, the cooks are quite inventive with what they use (no mars bars though). Its a lot nicer than the above description may sound. There's also kushiyaki, which is similar skewered ingredients, cooked on a grill. The best known variety is of course yakitori. I dunno if its connected, but there's probably lots of monkeys around Nozawa.
